I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the extended break.

 

I am very pleased to share with you the news that the UN General Assembly has just adopted the new Optional Protocol to the CRC establishing a complaint procedure for violations of children’s rights. This is a new milestone for children’s rights!

 

Under this new international legal standard, child victims of violations of their rights or their representatives, will have the possibility to bring complaints to the Committee on the Rights of the Child (UN committee of experts in charge of monitoring the CRC and its Optional Protocols) against their State in case they have not been able to seek remedies for these violations at national level.
