Hi All,
Please distribute to potentially interested colleagues and
students.
Thanks,
Peter Andrews
On behalf of Partha Mitra

Postdoctoral position to study the joint EEG/MEG technique for brain
imaging.

A fundamental problem in human brain imaging is the lack of techniques
that simultaneously have high space and time resolution. Both
electroencephalography (EEG) and Magnetoencephalography (MEG) have
high temporal resolution, but suffer from lack of spatial resolution.
This project aims to improve the spatial resolution and robustness of
EEG/MEG by performing joint source localization on simultaneous
measurements of voltages and magnetic fields generated by neural
activity. The research will involve implementing and extending a new
distributed source algorithm (Local Basis Expansions) for solving the
joint EEG/MEG inverse problem, and applying the results to real data
sets. Sucessful completion of the research project will have both
scientific and biomedical impact.

The position is in professor Partha Mitra's group at the Cold Spring
Harbor Laboratory. Candidates should ideally have a PhD in Physics,
Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Computer Science. Experience with
the EEG or MEG inverse problem as well as signal processing is
desirable, as well as a working knowledge of MATLAB. Familiarity with
neural signals is also desirable but can be acquired as a result of
working on the project.

The position will be based at CSHL in Cold Spring Harbor, NY and
includes an attractive benefits package. To apply, please send a
letter of interest and current CV to Sandra Michelsen
(mich...@cshl.edu) For more information about the Mitra lab, please
