Barb, I had about 4 years with my Irish setter, Seamus. I did everything his internist and his regular vet suggested. I used diamond back pharmacy to keep costs down. I made his food and supplemented with prescription. I did loads of research on all liver disease,
human and canine, and on Wilson's disease. I found this group in some of my research.
They were a good four years. he was happy and active up until about a month before he passed over. Seamus was my heart dog. I miss him every day. But I know I did everything I could possible have done for him. Irish usually live about 12 years, and that's
what he did.

Subject: [CAH-In-Dogs] So scary, thank you all for being here.
I'm grateful for all the positive posts I have read on here. I just got the diagnosis today that my 3 year old (he'll be 4 next month) male dobe has CAH along with copper storage. I'm just devastated. My vet is running more path reports from
his biopsy to determine how much copper so he hasn't started him on any meds yet. He has no symptoms whatsoever, just a fluke that he had random bloodwork a couple months ago when getting checked for irritable bowel. After all the depressing articles I've
been reading you guys are a breath of fresh air with at least some positive stories to tell. I'm hoping many of you have had years with your dogs after the diagnosis? If so, please tell me about you and your dogs and give me some hope, cause all I've done
is cry tonight. As soon as I learned about his ALT being high, I started him on Milk Thistle, sam-E, Vit E, and Vit B. I hope those have helped some. Thank you all for being here. Barb
