Howdy everyone,

Well as the subject line proclaims I have run into several, well, three
big problems with my first adventure with ChromeVox.

I bought a Lenovo 300E refurbished from Amazon so that you know the
background. Rather than split my issues up into multiple messages I
thought I'd list them all in one EMail so as not to clutter your
collective inboxes.

Issue 1 and probably the most pressing. I can not get my keyboard to
speak wen I press individual letters. I did go into Chromevox settings
and put it on "character echo" and then went into learning mode using
"search plus O and K. It says that I am indeed in learning mode, but
when I press keys there is utter silence. Don't know if I'm doing
something wrong, if it's a defect in the refurbished Chromebook or what,
but it is concerning.

Issue number 2.

The dang trackpad, or touchpad as Lenovo calls it is driving me to
drink. Well almost. It seems if I get within a half inch of it, the darn
thing starts speaking what's under the mouse. I know I could disable
this setting but fear that the cursor would then be moving all around
and I'd have no clue.

I need to disable the darn thing if possible.

And the last, least important problem is, every time I open the
Chromebook it wants my password. Is there a setting to eliminate this
bothersome request?

How the heck do you get into the settings for the Chromebook proper
anyway? Can get into Chromevox settings no problem.

Well that's it, like I haven't bombarded you all with issues.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will conquer this new
Operating System, but I do need some help.

Thanks.

Rob

The last problem is not very addressable. The most you can do is set up a pen to do that go to settings go to security and privacy go to lock screen and sign in. When you were there you will have login options either your Google account password, Chromebook password, or a six digit pin. If you don't want it to lock at all check the box labeled sleep when lid is locked if it is checked you can uncheck it if you like. Obviously it is a security risk but if that's what you want then you can enable it. The keyboard learning mode thing I don't know what is up with that. It could be a bug on your specific model laptop.
