Chrome/Chrome Driver 118.0.5993.70 problems testing file downloads

I'm looking into this, but I think Chrome 118 re-introduced the problem with the User configuration and the default download directory that we saw last year.

I'll add more details when I have a chance to investigate further.

This is starting to look like Chrome for Testing blocking downloads from HTTP connections with an "Insecure Download Blocked" message.

I am not able to download chrome driver 118 it is interrupting my work

I think you are using incognito mode to run your tests 

Running test in normal mode will solve this problem as temporary solution

read carefully, there two types to download. one is chrome and second one is chrome driver, I also downloaded chrome.exe at first time but go to chrome diver instead chrome.

my mac it is from a malicious user..any help is appreciated..I'm not able to run test cases as it says chrome is updated to 118 but my chromedriver is at 116

You need update default Chrome to ver. 118.

My chrome is updated to the latest version 118 so that is the reason Im trying to upgrade the chromedriver but it showing error

If Chrome updated, and ChromeDriver too, then you should 1 time start ChromeDriver and Exit, then system understand. I advise to generally use 117 version for tests, as it is the most stable and fastest now, I have encountered the problem that 118 drive now slows down. (My personal experience and opinion)

My chrome is updated to 118 and chromedriver is at 116..trying to upgrade that to 118 but it is failing.
