Hi all,

I configured new Asus Chromeboxes to replace old Chromebits we have attached to our events and advertising displays. However, all of our displays except one are oriented in portrait orientation.

As I understand it, our Chromebits auto-oriented to the display, however these Chromeboxes aren't. I'm running them in Kiosk mode and need to know how to get them into display portrait orientation.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

You can set that either in the app itself or in the kiosk settings (see below).

I found the setting, but how will this affect the one display we have in landscape layout?

In my case, I split the OU into two, assign the same kiosk app to both, and set the screen rotation to 0 and 90, respectively.

Hi Lucien,

I'm just getting back around to this. Screen rotation in our Kiosk app is set to "allow device to set", which is working for our current Chromebits. However, when I connected a new Chromebox, it is not rotating to match the screen orientation. Almost all of our display screens, except for one, are mounted as portrait style.

Would I need to create a new Kiosk app to just assign that to the one screen that is landscape mode and then set the other Kiosk app to force a rotation as you described?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Anthony,

Yes - easiest to just create a sub OU and force the rotation, then move the desired devices into that OU.

I wish there were an easier way - I have 15 libraries, each with some horizontally and some vertically oriented catalog stations, and 30 OUs to manage them. But that's the only way I could figure out.

Didn't want to start a new topic on this.

I figured it out - with a ChromeOS keyboard, you can use the key combination Ctrl+Shift+Refresh (on a ChromeOS Keyboard, this is along the top row - where function keys are on a PC keyboard - and looks like a open circle with one arrow at the end.)

I've run into an issue with one of the four Chromeboxes I need to re-orient the screen. The key combo doesn't work. I'm also locked out of the settings in ChromeOS on the device. I tried to remote desktop to it, but get a message that the device cannot be located.

I provisioned this Chromebox the same way I provisioned the other three, and those let me rotate the screen using the key combo. I'm stumped.
