to Christian Nudist
Hi folks,
Here's a good topic that we can use as an ice-breaker for this group.
What is the social scene like for Christian naturists in your niche of
the woods?
Do your church friends know about it? Do they approve of it? Or do
they think that naturism is something that is completely incompatible
with Christian philosophy?
I live in Brisbane in Queensland (Australia), and for the most part
naturism is treated with a lot of negativity and scepticism by the
churches here. So far, I have not managed to find one church which is
exclusively affirming of the naturist lifestyle.
As I got into it when I was 19, I wanted to share it with my peers in
the church youth groups that I was involved with. The leaders (who
had no experience with it) thought it was a bad idea because it could
cause 'fornication', or it was something that was best left for older
members of the church to practice.
The Catholic and AOG churches booted me out of their youth groups in
the early 90's for daring to discuss the topic, and attitudes don't
seem to have changed much since then.
As a result, I don't have much to do with the church anymore and am
working on starting up a Christian naturist fellowship group in
Brisbane which is going to reach out not only to naturists, but those
who are curious about it as well as other people the traditional
churches have previously exluded from their service (e.g. gay, bi and
lesbian people and people of other faiths who do believe in Jesus
Christ and his teachings).
Share your thoughts here - after all this is why I set this group up.
Please respond on the forum, not to me personally.
Thanks, hope to hear from some members soon.
