I think mathematics and science teachers love symbols. An equation is a great way to write a long sentence with just a couple of letters, e.g. v=d/t
My notes from a recent sermon looked like this... (I wonder if the meaning is clear to others?)
↕ pray
↔ love one another
↺ serve

1 Peter 4: The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Thanks Sean.
I love this and your openness of your relationship to Jesus.

Today, our pastor mentioned people who act as "other mothers." He included teachers! I do feel that way every year, with various students for various reasons. I feel as though I am giving gifts and receiving them all year. Not just during Teacher Appreciation or on Mother's Day!
