Folks -- notes on a couple of coming-up-fast singings in Georgia...

(1) *This* Sunday (Feb 22), Social and Sacred Harp singing - SPECIAL NOTE:

A UGA documentary production group under the direction of Dr. Roger Stahl
will be filming at the singing. Their documentary explores Southern
resilience in the face of increasing extreme weather events. How do we
engineer our land and cities to withstand what's coming? How do we bridge
political divides and build stronger networks of support? Their interest in
Shape Note Singing stems from its uniqueness as a piece of regional history
and as an image of community. They've put in a few requests for songs with
rough weather and tribulation themes, but if any more come to mind, feel
free to suggest. During breaks, they plan to speak to individuals about how
Helene and other storms have touched us. Please note that participating in
this event means you could show up in the film, which is targeted for
distribution with GPB and has potential for national exposure.

(2) The "First Fifth" singing (Georgian Harmony), March 28th: going to be held at No. 3 Railroad Street, Arnoldsville (GA), not Sweetwater Chapel.
