"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some
have entertained angels unawares." - - Hebrews 13:2 ESV

I had the most interesting visitor this evening. Just at the right
time God sent someone to say the right thing to me and bring
encouragement and peace. This has been a very difficult week, much
like the last few weeks have been. There is a lot at stake with work,
family church, friends...etc.

For several weeks now (even several months) we have been in the middle
of some very viscious spiritual warfare. The thing is I beleive our
Lord has given me a heads up at several points in time. But sometimes
it is easier to ignore the warnings even warnings given through loved
ones. However, Ignoring the warnings give the enemy greater leverage
making it very hard to fight the battles.

There is a lot to share about this, that I will leave for another
time. I would like to actually teach through the book of Ephesians
with special emphasis on spiritual warfare and Christian living. But I
am not ready for that at this time. I would like to focus on the
Hebrews passage above.

I was very discouraged this week, especially while travelling this
week and feeling very disconnected after three days on the road,
missing my family. This on top of everythting else that is going on. I
remember on Wednesday calling upon the Lord to provide some relief,
even a little bit of a rest. the answer finally came today through a
total stranger that just walked his dog into my life while I was
seeding the front yard.

God uses people (maybe angels) to deliver His messages and to provide
help and encouragement. God sent this 86 year old man named Richard to
bless me today. This man who enlisted in the Marine Corps during World
War II, survived a bout with colon cancer 5 years ago, and has the
greatest attitude about life, family, neighbors, country, commitment,
humility, love, and integrity. This dear man approached me and struck
up a conversation. before too long I realized that God was using him
to speak to me. He was saying just the right things that I needed to
hear. He shared with me that God is not done with him yet, he sees his
purpose in life is to bring encouragement to others. How did he know I
needed encouragement? who told him? Hmmm.

The best part about this, he just knew what to say, I did not have to
share anything with him, he just took our conversation from one area
to the next and all topics seemed relevent and timely. This man shared
his wisdom with complete kindness and compassion, and brought clarity
with total simplicity.

I wonder how many times God does this for us? are we walking in such
as fog that we don't even see this happening?

I am thankful to God for allowing me to meet Richard and his dog
Kitty...catch the irony? God does have a sense of humor.

Stay on the look out for God's angels that are sent to miniter to us,
and praise God when you come accross them.
