Ifyou are not very comfortable with PC networking, we recommend that you install the NETGEAR genie WiFi adapter software for easier setup. If you have prior experience with PC networking and prefer to manage your WiFi devices and connections through Windows, you can install the standalone driver without NETGEAR genie.

The easiest way to set up your NETGEAR WiFi USB adapter is with the NETGEAR Resource CD included with your adapter. If you lost your NETGEAR Resource CD, or if your computer does not have a drive that reads CDs, download the software for your WiFi adapter from the NETGEAR Download Center.

I have just purchased a new Netgear N600 WIFI USB adapter for my desktop that currently runs ubuntu. I am new to ubuntu and still unfamiliar with it.If anyone could help me get this set up on my computer I would greatly appreciate it.

Having viewed several Internet posts about how to get the Netgear WNDA3100v2 working in Linux, the only way I can make it authenticate with my EnGenius router is to downgrade the security in the router to WPA(TKIP). I decided I wasn't willing to use an obsolete security protocol to use the WNDA3100v2. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, a native Linux driver will be developed for the Broadcom BCM4323 chipset. FYI, I am running Debian with the MATE UI.

Without some some supporting additional hardware, overcoming these kind of chicken or egg problems. Some friendly might be willing to borrow a USB thumb drive and the Internet connection to download what's required from

A wise investment is always a RJ45 network cable and in absence of a network port on many recent notebooks or desktop computers one of these popular USB Ethernet adapters not requiring a special driver installation.

After searching through blogs it states there are no drivers. Its the chipset that I need to look for. However I still see others saying it doesnt fucnction on Ubuntu well and to buy another wifi adaptor.

Why is Netgear not capitalizing on the Linux revolution and why has canocial not bothered to do a joint venture to generate more sales and support of Netgear products. Seems like whole lot of money being flushed down the drain.

Sometimes, depending in the version of Windows, no installation is needed. The adapter just uses the drivers that are now bundled in Windows. In the same way that Windows has steadily improved its management of network devices in ways that make Netgear's "help" software redundant.

I wanted to share a solution to a reoccuring problem with my A6210 Wifi Adapter that seemed to be causing a problem for a lot of other people as well. Many of the threads on this support community offered solutions that worked for some, but none of them worked for me. I was almost at the point where I was going to junk my A6210, and find a different WiFi adapter.

The problem I was having was that the adapter would intermittently disconnect. At first it only happened once or twice a week, then as time went on at least once a day. About a week ago, the problem became so severe that my adapter was disconnecting continuously. It would stay connected only for a few seconds before disconnecting, then reconnecting, failing, and so forth in an unbreaking cycle.

The problem for me was that this solution didn't work at all. I updated my Netgear router's firmware, And I also updated the latest drivers for the A6210 adapter. But nothing worked. The third recommendation on that link ("Try disabling the Minimum Power consumption feature on the adapter") didn't apply, because that option did NOT appear under the Adapter Properties list.

After exhausting the Netgear forums and other sites, I couldn't figure out what else to do. But it occurred to me that the problem might be related to the USB connection. My A6210 is connected to a USB 3.0 port, and the sound that the OS would make each time the adapter lost the WiFi connection was similar to a USB being removed.

SOLUTION: Based on the above clue, I followed the instructions for the third option mentioned earlier, with one critical difference: I changed the Max USB Speed value from "USB Auto" to "USB 3.0" This INSTANTLY fixed the problem. The adapter immediately found the Wifi signal, and the neverending "connect / disconnect" cycle went away. If you are using the A6210 Adapter on a USB 3.0 port, and experiencing this problem, I would give this a try.

I suspect what was happening was that the A6210 and the operating system were not agreeing on which USB speed to use. The adapter was set to auto-adjust to the proper USB connection, and Win10 was similarly trying to negotiate with the device. However, for some reason they got caught in a logical loop wherer neither the OS nor the adapter could actually agree -- hence the inability for the adapter to stay mounted for more than a second or two. .I'm speculating here, but this is the only solution I've found to this problem.

I hope this helps some poor soul that was as stuck as I was with this problem. I'll update this post if the problem reemerges, but hoping that this fixes the problem permanently. I would encourage Netgear to consider adding this solution to your support page for this problem: -A6210-WNDA3100v2-wireless-adapter-intermittently-disconnects

Wenesday, June 5th, 2024 -- Possible solution

I've been dealing with this issue for a couple of days and I think I've found a couple of ways to fix it. I haven't had any disconnections in the past few days since I tried these solutions.

1. Press the Windows key and type "Services".

2. Right-click on "Services" and select "Run as administrator".

3. In the Services window, scroll or press 'n' on your keyboard to find "NetgearSwitchUSB".

4. Right-click on "NetgearSwitchUSB" and select "Properties".

5. In the "General" tab, find "Startup type" in the dropdown menu and select "Disabled".

6. Click "Apply" and then "OK".

Whenever I use my computer for the day, I turn it on and connect it with the Netgear Genei software.

Once it's connected, I restart my computer and it doesn't disconnect for the whole day.

I hope these steps help fix the issue for everyone.

Hello, I own two WNA3100: wifi adapters, one for a Windows 10 machine, the other for a Windows 7 machine. The one I'm using for Windows 7 works fine and has no issues whatsoever and is quite a few meters away from my Netgear router, the R6300.

The new Windows 10 machine is much closer to the router so range is not a problem but the wifi adapter keeps disconnecting almost every minute. I have the latest drivers which should support Windows 10 but it looks like the drivers are highly unstable for some reason. After I disconnect and reconnect the adapter to the PC the adapter works fine for another a minute then the connection again shows "limited" or it just disconnects itself completely. I've tried several USB ports on the back and the front of my PC, most of the them are regular USB 2.0 ports and all have the same problem.

I then go to the Windows device manager, find the Netgear WNA3100 and try to manually update the driver by pointing it to the folder containing the standalone driver setup file but it says the most recent version is already installed.

I am having the same issue as of yesterday. I have two Windows 10 Machines with the Netgear 3100, both went down. It shows the wifi networks available but will not let me connect. I tried everything listed including deleting and updating the driver only. When I attach it to my Windows 8 machine it connects fine. Would love any help anyone has. Thanks!

Add me to the list. The network adapter shuts itself off and disconnects from the network after a few minutes using the supposed Windows 10 drivers. Netgear needs to correct this stat...you'd think after 6 months they would have come up with something. The problem isn't Firewall, it isn't Antivirus, it isn't sleep settings...IT'S POORLY MADE DRIVERS.

I have to use my Nexus tablet to tether to my computer for Wifi since my Netgear adapter is so unreliable. This adapter goes back to the store tomorrow, and my Netgear routers/switches at home and work are being replaced by a brand that can keep up with the times.

I've just starting getting this problem with the WNDA3100v2 right after Win 10 had resarted after an automatic update. Reset the router, no luck. Downloaded the Win 10 driver (no genie), uninstalled the current driver (same version as the downloaded one), rebooted the system and installed the downloaded one. Installation stalled with a pop up error x103 titled SupTools so no functioning wifi.

This is incredibly frustrating since I'll initiate a download, walk away, then come back an hour later to discover that the Netgear driver crashed a few minutes after I walked away and my download didn't complete. I shouldn't have to constant hover over my computer to ensure that the Wi-fi's still working.

Installed the Genie version and didn't get the x103 error but still have the drop out problem. I've also tried the A6100 adapter and get exactly the same dropout problem so it's not just this adapter. A bit frustrating to say the least!

JamesGL seems to have moved on, but to answer his previous questions: I have two Windows 10 PCs, and both are experiencing this issue. I have done multiple driver uninstall / reinstalls and updates, both through Windows' Update Driver wizard and manually using the drivers downloaded from Netgear's site.

Previously I'd been able to revive it by disabling it then reenabling it through Windows, but that's no longer working -- it can no longer connect to my Wi-Fi network even after being disabled / enabled, and restarting Windows.
