I like the compass, inclinometer, etc. tools from the Edge panel. However, I don't want to have the Edge panel constantly hovering around the screen. Is there a way to open these tools by clicking on an icon in my home screen? Or am I basically stuck with external apps for compass and the other tools?

I am attempting to install an Android app on my brand new Nexus 10. I have a .apk file. I have downloaded the Android SDK, installed "Android SDK Tools", "Android SDK Platform-tools", and Google USB Driver. I have checked the setting on my Nexus 10 for "Unknown Sources".

Go to the phone and switch on USB Debugging in the Developer section of your phone. Notice that an additional item appears as an undefined device now in the device manager list, it will have the yellow exclamation mark and it may have the same name of the phone listed as you saw under Portable Devices. Ignore this item for the moment. Now, without doing anything to the phone (it should be already in USB debug mode) go back to the Portable Devices in Device Manager and right-click the BLU STUDIO 5.5 S or whatever phone you are working with that is listed there without the exclamation mark (listed under Portable Devices). Right click on the icon under Portable Devices, in this example the name that appears is BLU STUDIO 5.5 S. On that icon select Properties, Details, and under the pull down, select Hardware IDs and copy down what you see.

For Windows 10, had to manually download the latest platform SDK tools from Android as the version supplied through Visual Studio 2017 EMDK for Xamarin was not sufficient. Everything else except adb.exe devices worked.

StPaddy, I'm having the same issue. I'm IT for a company using the software. I've spent a good amount of time modifying registry values without success. This is the avenue I'm approaching from now: -attack-disable-uac-for-certain-applications-in-vista/ Opens a new window

I will respond to this within the next day or so if I get success... Seems frustratingly tedious, but I'll continue testing.

Remember where you keep your SIM ejector tool? You know, those little metal things you occasionally get with a new phone? No, me neither, but don't despair. Fortunately for you and me, I've MacGyvered my way into the SIM card tray and microSD card slot many a time. Here are a few handy ways to open the SIM card slot without a SIM tool.

The right tool for the job might be closer than you think, as in on your body. Traditional earrings with thinner wires or hooks work best. On others, you might need to unscrew the ball/spike on the end. More extreme piercings might be too large to serve as SIM tray openers. (Be careful not to bend your earrings!)

A safety pin is something that is very ubiquitous and found in nearly every household. Thanks to its sharp, pointed edge, it makes for a great sim tool. The fact that its design allows for more force to be (safely) exerted makes me think the safety pin is a better sim ejector tool than needles.

With the launch of the Note20, Samsung introduced wireless DeX, which allows DeX to be used without a cable on Smart TVs featuring Miracast, as long as both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

For individuals, DeX is a great way to work more flexibly. Instead of booting up your laptop to catch up on work at home, just connect your phone or tablet to a monitor and get straight to work. You can run up to five apps at once and easily complete most tasks without hassle.

Even businesses that still rely on legacy Windows apps without mobile or web versions should consider using DeX. You can leverage a virtual desktop app, like VMware, Citrix or Amazon WorkSpaces, to access a full Windows desktop within DeX.

Samsung has a cool security feature built into One UI that has an interesting side effect, one that lets you have two separate copies of any Android app on your Galaxy phone. And that's not the only integrated Samsung tool for cloning apps.

This way is more useful if you're going to install apps in your Secure Folder only without another copy outside the folder. If you ever need a clone, you can install the same app from the Play Store or Galaxy Store outside of the sandboxed environment.

Galaxy is by default connected to the Main Tool Shed. However you can optionally connect to other custom Tool Sheds by modifying the config/tool_sheds_conf.xml file in the Galaxy directory. There are few more Tool Sheds worldwide but the Galaxy Team maintains two: Main Tool Shed and Test Tool Shed. By default, the Main Tool Shed is already configured in Galaxy and we recommend using it.

Finally, we can confirm our dependencies installation (if any) and choose the panel section we want to show the repository's tools in. If you keep the settings as is, the shown dependencies will be handled automatically either by Conda or Tool Shed package recipes. To learn more you can visit documentation about dependency resolution and Conda.

As you're waiting for your tool to install, you can leave the page freely, as the installation will continue in the background. As of Galaxy version 16.10 you do not need to restart Galaxy to have the tools loaded. If you have an older version please make sure to restart the Galaxy process (this also applies to any handlers your Galaxy uses) so the new tools will get loaded properly.
