Completelyridiculous she (the page moderator) made the post about the app for android being down and gives no how to when she says you can still access video feeds from the devices. No you can't. So many of us use wifi cameras and can ONLY access camera feeds from the app. Dumb Roku should have a TV app specifically to log in and use on our TV's and not require some streaming devices. Most of us don't even have a Roku TV.
We believe this issue is now resolved. We've updated the Smart Home app on Google Play and you should now be able to log in with the latest app. Please update your Smart Home app and try logging in again.
Yeah I'm cancelling this garbage. It's one thing to have these technical issues, it's a very different one to claim your junk is some how working and not working simultaneously. I'm out, and I'll be passing the word along. #rokusdumbhome
That's crazy but so predictable of their junk devices. Mine will alot of the times not even pick up a person that walks right by 8-10 ft away. Video quality is sh!t. A complete joke. Many times my cameras will pick up a car and say it's a person or it will say it's a person but then I'll look and nothing is there. No car, not a person, nothing. China junk.
First I had a problem with my 360 camera moving when not on or signed in. Roku wasn't truthful with that issue. So I unplugged the camera and now it's been 1 week. I plugged back in today and tried to sign in and it will not let me. So change my password and still cannot sign in. So what good are the cameras if no one can sign in to turn them on or view them
Yup and the footage quality AND live video quality is a joke. You'll see someone but you aren't going to see features enough to point them out in case something goes down. They say to do this or that and blah blah blah. They they always blame our own Internet connection and never take blame for sh!t quality cameras because they are trying to pass off to the buyers they are the best to get that money. These cameras are supposed to be 1080 (the ones I got) and I swear it's 480 quality. Then a person can walk right by like 8-10 ft away and not record sh!t. It's always something.
Make sure your gateway/router is switched to 2.4Ghz frequency. Some routers are set to 5Ghz or there's an option to do both 2.4 & 5. Also... Try using both android AND apple to sign in and see what works. If both don't, it's def their issue. If one device works but not another when signing in to view cameras, it's the whatever Device u try using that's the issue. With that said, they've been known to have android issues because they all suck at knowing how to code there to get these cameras to work with all devices. Then they do updates for devices but then cameras all reset back to some of the factory settings. The 2 way communication to talk to someone on the camera, visitors can't hear you at all depending what type of phone you're using. Roku always blames the phone but their junk isn't compatible with many phones. The wannabe tech people are just random twats answering messages and they don't know a thing tech wise.
I'm having the same issue with an android - Samsung S21 Ultra 5G - version 13. App constantly crashes when in private listening mode. Haven't seen an android owner on this thread so figured I'd let it be known that it's not only an iPhone issue. @RokuDanny-R @RokuMary-F
To resolve and isolate this issue, have you tried looking at our Support resources and following the steps to help resolve the private listening issue? How to resolve an issue with private listening Official Roku Support
@makaiguy I did. Tried to uninstall and reinstall but same issue happens. Not sure what's going on. But might need to completely reboot my phone to see if that works. Super odd, but if that doesn't work, might need to call customer support to get help.
@RokuMary-F Thanks for the info but none of these apply to me. The app simply crashes every time I connect to private listening. Rendering the feature inoperable. Hopefully reseting my phone entirely works. If not, we've got an issue.
When using private listening with your Android device, are you minimizing the Roku mobile app or is the device falling asleep when this issue occurs? What are the exact steps to reproduce the issue and what is happening on your Android device when this happens?
Hey @RokuDanny-R tried everything but reboot my phone. But before I did, used my wife's phone to see if it works on hers and sure enough, it worked seamlessly. App never crashed and private listening kept working. I reset all my connections, Bluetooth and Wifi. I even reset my router to make sure it wasn't a connection issue. Uninstalled the app, restarted my phone and re-downloaded app. However, nothing worked. So tomorrow, I'll be reseting my entire phone to see if it fixes whatever bug is causing my app to crash only on my phone. No other option I can think of at this point.
When is the problem going to be fixed with not being able to log into the smart home app since late Friday? Have you been hacked therefore have we been hacked? With all the problems roku has been having, I'm about to cancel my subscription and buy cameras from another brand. At least email your users if theres a problem.
If you don't have the Roku mobile app, install it and see if you can log into your Roku account on it. If you have it already, but it's signed into a different Roku account, try signing into the same account as you're using for your "smart" home devices. For me, once I signed into the mobile app with the same Roku account that my "smart" devices are linked to I was able to sign in on the smart home app without even needing to enter a password.
What's the Eta on this issue getting resolved? Also, it doesn't just affect android users, iPhone users are experiencing the same issue. The error says Username or Password doesn't match our records, I have reset the password, I've deleted the cache and data with the same issues.
No it does not!! I have not been able to log into my account but I also had Roku smart home app installed on another cell phone that appears to still have all my info there but you are not able to look at live feed any feed!! I think answering the question about being HACKED is important security and saftey is all our concerns and should be ROKU's and here is another thing. I Purchased Roku for my Sister and she is not having any issues so why are some of us. Our BIGGEST concerns are these camera's are used for security how secure do we feel not.
I honestly thought that ROKU was so much more than what it is currently demonstrating in a name brand. I had high regards for the Roku name until this incident and such lack of communication with their customers so very sad.
Don't worry - it's quick and painless! Just click below, and once you're logged in we'll bring you right back here and post your question. We'll remember what you've already typed in so you won't have to do it again.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!
It seems your post is incomplete. Could you share a more detailed description of the situation? Additionally, let us know if this happens all the time and if you've tried any troubleshooting steps to fix it (e.g., a reinstallation, a soft reset, or a different device).
I was trying to post a question from my phone, but it wasn't giving me enough room to even read my question. I hit enter and apparently it posted the incomplete question. Do I have to post from a computer? This response is easy to do?
When playing Spotify on your Roku, you have the option to control the music from your phone with Spotify Connect, and everything that plays on the Roku will show on Spotify on your phone (or any other device where your Spotify account is open) as well because you can only play music with your account from one device at a time. However, you should be able to close the Spotify app on your phone and control Spotify just from your Roku without any issues.
Nevertheless, maybe I don't quite understand the situation yet, so to give you a more accurate response, would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
My Question is why is my phone connecting when I'm just trying to play spotify from roku. I don't want it to pop up on my phone when I open spotify in roku. While I'm listening to spotify on roku I'm also doing stuff on my phone, but every time I play a video on my phone, it over rides spotify. I want spotify to keep playing on my TV, not switch to my video audio.
You can see "Web player" in the Now playing bar in @Susan_GP's screenshot which indicates that the music is currently playing from the web player, but it gives you the option to control the playback from your phone.
If the app is open or running in the background on your phone, it's expected that it gives you the option to control the playback from there. You can read more about the Connect feature in the link @Susan_GP sent above.
I read about an issue where Roku is preventing users from using their devices until they agree to the new terms. Is this Smart home app logon issue related to the new terms agreement issue? Are we being locked out with no way to be forced to agree to Roku's new terms? (Check it out on ZDNET; "Your Roku TV will be unusable if you don't agree to the company's new terms".
I was able to resolve the issue by first downloading and signing into the "roku app" and once I did that I could then sign into the "Roku smart home app" Please let everyone know if this solution also works for you.
WOW! I didn't get anything new about terms, only one time a year ago when I first got all the cameras and the app, but nothing new with updates. I'll definitely look into this. The only thing I'm concerned with is them thinking we're agreeing for them to view live cameras at any time but they say they aren't able to, but that's a crock of sh!t - they have our login info. Whether we'd be notified via email the instant someone signs in, I'm sure they can get around that.
