I upgraded my dropbox recently to 1 TB of cloud memory because I have a security camera that records and uploads. We have the camera inside the house and it records anytime there is movement. I don't need to keep or access the video files unless something bad happens, so I've been deleting them. I came to find out they go to the 'Deleted file' folder and I'd like to delete them permanently on a regular basis, rather than have them use up cloud storage.
I've not found a way to select all the files at once to do this efficiently. Is there a way, and if not, when will this be added? It's ridiculous to have to select files one by one without having an option to select all. Please let me know when you plan on adding this, as if you don't have a difinitive answer (date) then I will need to look to another option for cloud storage.
Just note that deleted and permanently deleted files don't count against your storage quota. Permanently deleting files after they have already been deleted doesn't free any more space in your Dropbox.

This solution was posted by Walter. However, Walter was likely using the Dropbox Desktop program. It does not appear Walter was using the app or uaing the browser; since the app (Andriod app version 164.2.2
If any one know, please tell me. As it stands, now, Iam stuck selecting one file box, then scrolling, and scrolling until I get all my files, and using SHIFT-CLICK to collectivly select them all. But I have over 3000 files in this folder, and this takes awhile.

If you select top file in deleted folder, scroll down and press Shift and select, at least 21 files are selected, one full page. At least a little bit better then selecting file by file. Too bad there is not built in a select all option. But google disc and google photo is worse, anyway... best of luck... Erik
Spot on, totally agree. On google disc it is possible to shift-click at the bottom of the listing to select all, unfortunately, with all the files I have backed up, the system cannot handle if you scroll too far. Syncing is not straight forward either.... I use iDrive, Box, OneDrive privat and business. Have a look at www.sync.com, not too bad. I also have three accounts on www.degoo.com - 100 Gbyte free per user, max 500 files upload and you need to login once a month to keep accounts active. I also have iCloud and Norwegian unlimited cloud storage called Min Sky... not any good but have uploaded almost 10 thousand pictures.... I have managed to crisscross syncing across all platforms... nightmare.
Used google archive request function to get zip files of google disc and photos, obviously could only choose one format, for example word or pdf, jpg or png etc. Furthermore, after going through a long questionnaire google informs the user it will take hours or even days before you will receive the links to download what you tagged... obviously that never happens... just had to get my frustration out :)))) Have a great weekend.... fighting cloud storage....he he
I hope I'm not reading in this thread that the only ways photos can be deleted from an album at Dropbox is one by one or every photo in the album. Please tell me I've interpreted this incorrectly.
Surely removing multiple photos when editing out dupes and other unwanted photos can be done by selecting those and clicking something like "delete all selected images" ?
Deleting them one at a time would be torture. If there really is no way to easily delete multiple photos from Dropbox albums I'llc ask why not? I don't know the first thing about writing code but adding the ability to select multiple photos for deletion is such a simple task at every cloud storage app I've used, well, it just makes no sense for a company as established as Dropbox is to not have such an important and simple tool available.
If not, I may be at the wrong app because I sure don't have the time or patience to sit for hours just deleting images one at a time.
Thanks.
I have multiple files (same type and same schema) in the same folder and trying to input all the files at once time, then do the same preparation such as select fields for all these files, and finally, export the output for each input file.
To input multiple files, use the wild card syntax in the path, i.e. "c:\temp\*.csv." This will attempt to load all the files. I say attempt because the schema(column name, Type and order) of the files have to be the same to input all the files successfully. In the Input Data tool set Output File Name as Field to be "File Name Only" since your files are all in the same directory. You be able to use the file names to group by as required.
I would suggest starting the process with just 2 files in the subdirectory to get the entire workflow configured and running properly. Limiting the input to just 2 files will make debugging much easier than if you have 100s of files.
Hey everyone! I need some assistance with figuring out how to change the permissions on multiple files at once. I recently had to reload my computer, and pulling files back onto my local disk from my SSD is sending me into an error loop of "access denied". I was able to finally get the files back onto my local disk, but all of the files remain inaccessible due to being "locked" behind an administrator that no longer exists on this PC.
The only fix I'm seeing is going into the security properties and selecting a principal for each file. However, there are tens of thousands of files that need to be unlocked via this method, and I'm not seeing any way of changing permissions on multiple files simultaneously. I just don't see this being viable time management, so I'm really hoping someone here has an alternative method for me. Thanks so much!
The simplest way to do it is to perform the same you already did at the root folder level rather than the file level.
While doing it you should enabled inheritance and tick the option for replacing all child objects permission...
Oh my gosh THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I had a file of hundreds of pictures that denied permission and could only change each file one at a time. I KNEW there had to be another way. Thank you thank you thank you!
I have tried above but getting an error message - An error occurred while applying information to drive:\xyz\shared folder \ subfolders Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied. The previous owner of all the files is no longer an active user. Please advise
If you are getting access denied, then that would imply that you do not have administrator access to the file system. Or the file system is corrupt. Is "drive:\xyz\shared folder \ subfolders" a local drive or a mapped network drive?
Thanks for the quick response. I am using my admin account. Yes its mapped network drive. But I am logging into the file server itself to make the changes. I am taking the ownership of hundreds of files one by one. As I need to archive them. But without taking ownership I am unable to move them. they are currently owned by unknown user. I think it shows unknown user as they were owned by my predecessor originally and his account is currently disabled.
I tried using: takeown /d Y /a /r /f c:\Documents\Word Documents and received this error message:C:>takeown /d Y /a /r /f c:\Documents\Word DocumentsERROR: Invalid argument/option - 'Documents'.Type "TAKEOWN /?" for usage.Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks very much!
By following these steps, you should be able to take ownership of the entire photo folder, change the permissions for the folder and its contents, and ensure that you have access to all the photos within it.
Please note that changing security permissions can have implications for the security and privacy of your files, so exercise caution and ensure that you are comfortable with the changes you are making.
Another advantage is that you can assign cpu priorities to different instances.
Making it workable to have one instance do an operation in the backgound with low priority while your active instance is at normal priority.
The active file can be easily changed in the window which is opened by the Worksession command. Open the file which you want to have as the first active file. Then use the Worksession command to attach other files. A window opens Other files can be opened with the Attach button.
To change the active file type Worksession and a window opens. If the file you want to be active is already attached select it and click on the Active button. If the file is not attached then you need to attach it first before making it the active file.
Worksession may have been originally intended for multiple users sharing files, but it is a great tool for single users with complex geometry, or geometry which results in large files such as meshes from scans.
I admit this might lead to some confusion and might be difficult to grasp by the user though.
I also got used to opening multiple instances of rhino, but I suspect this is using more recources (just guessing, no expert)?
Anyway, I just found it an odd behaviour, so no high priority wish for v6.
