Howdy folks,

Kinda shocked to get two emails from me in the span of 2 weeks? Well,
this is a special occaision.

Tonight at Templars Hall in Old Poway Park (Poway, CA), I have the
pleasure of performing for San Diego Folk Heritage, sharing the stage
with some of the finest musicians. Tonight's show features the music
of Southern Appalachia, as well as New Orleans Jazz, blues and Texas
Swing. Where else are you going to hear all of this under one roof?

Plow released a CD in the fall of 2008 featuring John Mailander
(currently at the Berklee College of Music), David Bandrowski and
yours truly - recorded live with Alan Sanderson, this record has no
studio fluff, no hired guns, and very little production. Three guys
sitting in a studio making a record....imagine that. It has been well-
reviewed by the San Diego Troubador and received accolades from Mike
Seeger before he passed away. (I had the honor of singing with Mike
at the 2007 Adams Avenue Roots Festival. He remains one of my biggest
influences.)

With the addition of Doug Walker on the left-handed upright bass and
Joe Pomianek on guitar & mandolin, Plow's sound remains firmly
grounded in old-time and early bluegrass, yet continues to "break new
ground" with clever arrangements of traditional songs & tunes and
original compositons by myself & David Bandrowski. Plow regularly
packs the Red Barn in Wynola, as well as the patio at Urban Solace
where I've had the pleasure of performing the second Sunday of every
month since 2007.

About 2 years ago, David Bandrowski & I were sitting on his patio
playing guitar & mandolin jazz duets (Dave is a wonderful jazz
guitarist) when we came up with the idea of a concept album we wanted
to record together. A little blues, a little jazz, a little trad -
drawing on influences like Jelly Roll Morton, Bill Monroe, Jethro
Burns, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Louis Armstrong & the black string
bands of the south. This idea evolved into a weekly residency at the
Turquoise Bar in North Pacific Beach. We've been there every Monday
night since last year and have honed arrangements of some wonderful
old music that just doesn't get played enough. Featuring the
harmonicas (chromatic, diatonic, & bass) of Dane Terry, Zapf Dingbats
recently completed the recording of a demo record that will be
available in the coming weeks. We'll be playing much of that material
tonight, without the distraction of a bar noise....

I really hope you can make it. These guys are wonderful musicians.
It will be a special night of traditional music hosted by San Diego
Folk Heritage (http://sdfolkheritage.org)
