Announcing the 2023 Rising Scholar Best Paper Award Winners

Dear CHPAMS Members,

We are excited to announce the winners of this year's Rising Scholar Best Paper Award. After an exhaustive review process, we have identified two extraordinary research papers that have significantly contributed to our understanding of health policy and management, each with its unique perspective and impact.

In the China-based researcher category, we are pleased to recognize Dr. Yao Yao from Peking University. Dr. Yao's paper, "The effect of China’s Clean Air Act on cognitive function in older adults: a population-based, quasi-experimental study", demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to advancing our understanding of environmental policies and their effects on cognitive health. His innovative approach and meticulous research have contributed significantly to our community's discourse.

From the international researchers category, we honor Dr. Xin Hu from the University of Virginia. Her insightful paper, "Vertical integration of oncologists and cancer outcomes and costs in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer", has broadened our comprehension of oncology treatment structures. Her research not only stands out for its academic excellence but also for its potential to shape health policies and improve patient outcomes.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both Dr. Yao Yao and Dr. Xin Hu. Their contributions as early-career CHPAMS members are commendable and serve as a testament to their promise as leading figures in the field of health policy and management.

Their papers have undergone rigorous assessment by the CHPAMS Award Committee, focusing on scientific quality, public health implications, and potential impacts. Their work stood out amidst the many worthy contributions we evaluated, proving to be both exceptionally insightful and impactful.

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to all who submitted their work for consideration and to the Award Committee members, Drs. Tianze Jiao, Yichen Zhang, Liang Wang, and Yilu Lin, for their diligence and expertise throughout the selection process. We would like to also express our heartfelt gratitude to Xin Yue Han Yu for their generous sponsorship of this award over the years. Their support has been instrumental in making this award possible and has contributed significantly to its success.
