Dear all,

Is there a possibility to use a download manager for raw files or access them via FTP? I am trying to download a large data set and already a couple of times the download got somehow interrupted and stopped (the issue is probably on my side). Any suggestions apart from clicking each raw file individually?

Cheers,
Sven

Hi Sven,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  Here is the response I received from our development team ...

We don't provide an option of downloading our files via DL manager due to both security and technical reasons.  This might be possible in the future but not now.
In case of a single file download - if it breaks - Chrome (or I believe any other modern browser) is able to resume download. It works directly from Amazon S3, so it should work, unless it takes too much time and the download link gets expired. In case of multiple file download the story is the same, the only difference that Chorus not Amazon consolidates and provides files, but it should not behave differently.

If you can provide more information about the issues you are having we would be happy to look into it more.  If you want to contact me directly off forum with the download link we can see if we can reproduce it ourselves.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Michael and Sven,

I am just bumping this thread to see if FTP transfer has become available?

Kind regards

Hi Joel,
Unfortunately there is not currently any development being done on Chorus.  While I haven't tested it, it looks like there is an option to upload via FTP.

Download occurs via S3.   The datafiles sit in S3 object storage.  For security reasons it isn't possible to provide access to the S3 bucket and many people's data sit in the same bucket.

Sorry I don't have a better solution for you.

HI Mike,

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Thats all ok, just had a power outage and lost the download for Bens challenge so I'm re-downloading again.

Have a great day!
