Both drivers listet on the support page "6.0.9025.1 Rev.C" and "6.0.9025.1 Rev.B" could not be installed, because of the error "not compatible with that windows version 10.0.19043" but it is the pre-installed windows 10.
I tried some other packages for other HP envy devices, I either get the above error message, or the installation is going through, but I don't have sound after that (without errors in the device manager, just no sound).
With the original sound driver (don't know the version - comes from windows HP installation) I had sound and all sound tools, but when I started a movie, youtube or a music file, after some seconds the sound got quieter and quieter, this was the reason to find a new driver and all the trouble get started...
I have not been able to install Realtek Audio manager as well, however on my TG012260xt pc gaming computer with windows 11 brand new last week, I discovered how to activate the 5.1 surround sound. The solution is, go to all aps in the start menu, find HP Audio Center, click on the output tab on the left side of the window, find a box to tic that says "fill room" tick that, now up above that under speaker configuration, you will find now that 5.1 speaker is now an option, it will not be an option until you tick the box that says "fill room" or "room fill". Now you can scroll down and set your configuration for each speaker and test them as well. Now if you go to control panel, click on sound, click on speakers, then configure, you will see that 5.1 is now an option there as well, and you can test your speakers there as well. With the HP Audio Center I found I did not need the realtek HD sound manager as I was able to accomplish in the audio center what I would use the HD audio manager for. I hope this works for you. Good Luck.
I just got the new HP desktop with Windows 11 (Envy TE01). I couldn't get any sound despite running every fix apps that I could find on the HP website. The Geek Squad guy I talked to couldn't help. I knew this Envy did not have internal speakers and was trying to hook up my Anker Soundcore 2 and tried everything I could think of to get it to work. all to no avail. I finally got an HP support person on with chat, ran through all the same routines again, and then gave her control of the the computer.
When she ran through System Settings (Audio) I saw the problem and was able to fix it. The PC somehow assumed that my Dell monitor had speakers and that was the chosen sound device. There was a button that said something like "Disconnect this device," which I did for the Dell monitor. But then there was still the problem that the Envy did not recognize my Anker speaker, even though it was connected by USB. After unplugging and plugging back in this speaker, I remembered an important aspect of this speaker: the USB only supplies power - to transmit sound you need to pair the speaker with the computer by bluetooth. When I did this, there was sound - at such a high volume it nearly blew me out of my chair!
same problem here with my ASUS Zenbook 14 since 7.Nov. upgrade to Win 11 - no sound from inbuilt loudspeakers, microphone not working either. I tried all the solutions suggested here in the thread, and other options from MS and ASUS tech support, incl realteck driver update(s) and rolling back to Win 10. No success...!
I have same issue. HP EliteBook 745 with Ryzen 5 CPU. No speakers or headphones detected. I made sure BIOS was up to date. Audio enhancements were never enabled and still aren't. I disabled Bluetooth to test and made no difference. For a while I could use the HP Support assistant's built-in troubleshooter to repair and sound would return briefly. Sound would be gone again after laptop was not used for short period of time. The support assistant troubleshooter doesn't work anymore. I checked HP website and no drivers available for Windows 11. I am out of ideas!
Re install windows 11 from your drive and don't forget to delete the window drive and all its related backups partitions before installing your windows again. (it solved my no audio problem or no audio device connected ) Monte_Duncan
It seems I have been able to remediate my sound issues by changing from the Realtek High Definition Audio driver to the High Definition Audio Device. Before this, I would lose sound, run a repair, sound would return and then 10 minutes later be gone again. After several days of struggling with that I decided to abandon the Realtek diver (since there was no Windows 11 Realtek driver) and go with the only other compatible hardware alternative that I could find on my HP 745-G6 Laptop - the High Definition Audio Device. Since using this driver, sound has now remained constantly available.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 7th generation, Windows 11. I lost sound from the laptop's speakers after updating to a Realtek HD audio driver; I might have done this with DriverBooster or Windows Update. The headphone jack continued to work.
Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, is here. Hey, it is almost the weekend. In celebration of almost the weekend, I decided to get up early, fix a pot of Irish steel-cut oats, and a nice pot of English Breakfast tea. While the oats cooked, I used my Windows Surface to check my email. DB, this is when I ran across your email. Yes, Windows PowerShell can help in many different ways in looking at audio drivers.
The first thing to do is to find the audio device. To do this, use the WMI class Win32_SoundDevice WMI class. The Win32_SoundDevice WMI class tells me the device ID and the name of the audio device. The command is shown here.
Now that I have the path to the driver file, I can use the Get-Item cmdlet to retrieve version information. The first thing I need to do is to obtain the path to the driver. I can get this from the PathName property. I store it in a variable named $path. This is shown here.
I invite you to follow me on Twitter and Facebook. If you have any questions, send email to me at scri...@microsoft.com, or post your questions on the Official Scripting Guys Forum. See you tomorrow. Until then, peace.
Realtek is a very common audio solution for many OEM computer brands. Realtek is usually a simple platform for delivering quality sound/audio solutions to consumers. Below are some of the more common solutions to Realtek audio driver issues and installation options.
Once on the Realtek website, Click High Definition Audio Codecs (Software). Then follow the on-screen instructions and download the correct driver corresponding with your version of Windows.

Which audio driver is used by MacBook Pro 7.1??? I'm running BootCamp (Windows7 Ultimate x64) and I'm having a problem with audio input, so I'm looking for anything taht will make it work.
In Device Manager I had "Cirrus CS4206A (AB13)" and three devices of "NVIDIA High Definition Audio". Then somehow I updated Cirrus driver to "High Definition Audio", but Audio-IN is not working, only Audio-OUT (The same thing with Cirrus). Just to mention, my MB is using only one "multi" audio jack.
I contacted Apple Support (Chat) and the person I got on the chat is a noob! He told me to uninstall BootCamp or whole Win7...And he gave me a link to Microsoft Support... So, nothing really helpful, he just bumped me to Microsoft...
Then I uninstalled Windows's default audio drivers "High Definition Audio Device" to get sound device without drivers and I quickly made a screenshot before they are installed again... And as you can see they are recognised as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus"
That's BootCamp version I'm using (4.0.4033) and I installed it correctly!...I tried to reinstall BootCamp few times, but it seems that CirrusLogic Audio driver is unfinished! Only output works, but not the input! Why is that so? How to request Apple to check and repair their drivers?
The "red" diode is the Optical laser. There is a microswitch which controls if your combined analog/digital port will output digital signals or analog signals. If you insert the headphone in the port and take it out (you may have to repeat this till the laser turns off), then you can install the BC drivers and test.
Oh bro I tried re-installing those drivers many times, but no luck! ? I contacted Apple's ChatSupport and they told me that this is not their problem, because it's related to Microsoft (Windows)...So now I finished conversation with Microsoft Expert over chat and they told me that my audio driver is outdated and not fully compatible with Windows 7. So, stupid Cirrus (which I've never heard of before) is not updating their drivers. Microsoft expert suggested me to contact CirrusLogic Support, but there is no mail and I'm not in USA - so dialing their phone number is too expensive...
I really don't know what to do. This is Apple's false, because they don't really care if customers are satisfied. They are not forcing their suppliers to update drivers. Anyways, which model is your MacBook (which year) ?? Do you suggest trying Win 8.1 or XP ??
Yeah, output working fine (switching correctly between earphones and integrated speakers)...For input i tried Apple Earbuds, some PC headphones with mic (tried connecting with splitter) , my Guitar and Sony mic .
Yeahh Apple really doesn't care about their customers...Gonna drop this crappy MacBook into the trash and never gonna buy any Аpple product again... Overpriced crap thats worst than some regular cheap laptop...
Thank you, but GoClever send me other drivers. Now I have other problem. I connect headphones to 3,5 mm sound jack. Work speakers on tablet. After I disconnect 3,5 mm jack from tablet and tablet speakers are "off". How to invert? Speakers are default device. Uninstall driver and again install still wont work.
