Unlike many Islamic preachers, his lectures are colloquial,[27] given in English, not Urdu or Arabic,[28] and he usually wears a suit and tie.[27]Naik has held many debates and lectures[1][4][29] and is said to "have delivered over 4000[30] lectures around the world" as of 2016. Anthropologist Thomas Blom Hansen has written that Naik's style of memorising the Quran and Hadith literature in various languages, and his related missionary activity, has made him extremely popular in Muslim circles.[31] Many of his debates are recorded and widely distributed in video and DVD media and online. His talks have been recorded in English and broadcast on weekends on several cable networks in Mumbai's Muslim neighbourhoods, and on the Peace TV channel, which he co-produces.[32][33] Topics he speaks on include: "Islam and Modern Science", "Islam and Christianity", and "Islam and secularism".

In 2014, Naik visited Gambia at the invitation of President Yahya Jammeh to attend the grand celebration of Gambian revolution's 20th anniversary.[4][42] There he delivered four lectures between 11 and 22 October.[4][42][43][44] The lectures took place in University of the Gambia, Pancha Mi Hall of Paradise Suites Hotel, presidents home village Kanilai, Foni Kansala and Kairaba Beach Hotel, Kololi. Gambian cabinet ministers, religious leaders, students and thousands of people attended his lectures on subjects including "Terrorism and Jihad: an Islamic perspective", "religion in the right perspective", "Dawah or destruction?" and "the misconceptions about Islam".[42][44] Meanwhile, he also met with the president Yahya Jammeh along with Gambia Supreme Islamic Council and held an Islamic conference with the Imams of Gambia.[42][43]

Naik delivered four lectures in Malaysia during 2012. The lectures took place in Johor Bahru, Universiti Teknologi MARA in Shah Alam,[45] Kuantan and Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, prominent figures and several thousand people attended the lectures at different places despite protest by the members of HINDRAF.[46] The organisers of Naik's speeches said their purpose was to promote harmony among people of various religions.[47]

Naik delivered another six lectures in April 2016. Two of his lectures in Malaysia, entitled "Similarities between Hinduism and Islam" and "Is the Quran God's word?" were objected by HINDRAF, along with other NGOs, saying that these lectures might provoke inter-racial tensions. With the initial support of the Government authority, the event went ahead as planned.[48][49][50]

Indian fugitive preacher Zakir Naik, who faces charges of money laundering and hate speech in India, is set to give religious lectures at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, according to social media posts.

"Preacher Sheikh Zakir Naik is present in Qatar during the World Cup and will give many religious lectures throughout the tournament," Al Arabiya News quoted Faisal Alhajri, a presenter at the Qatari state-owned sports channel Alkass, as saying on Twitter on Saturday.

The FIFA World Cup will begin in Qatar on Monday at the Al Bayt Stadium, located about 35 km away from Doha. Naik, who is a wanted fugitive by the Indian government, will reportedly give many religious lectures throughout the tournament, according to Alhajri.

Before the anti-terror tribunal, Solicitor General submitted that there is overwhelming evidence on record to show that Zakir Naik continues to reach out to his followers in India by propagating his teachings through videos and making provocative speeches and lectures disseminated via various social media channels.

Controversial Indian Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, who faces charges of money laundering and hate speech in India, has reportedly gone to Qatar from Malaysia ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Naik, who is wanted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigative Agency (NIA), is expected to give religious lectures there ahead of the tournament.

Naik is generally accepted across most states of Malaysia, but special mention needs to be given to the states of Kelantan and Perlis. The latter is known to be the state most accommodative of Salafism in Malaysia and Naik comes from a Salafist background himself. Naik has given several lectures in universities and other institutions in these states.24

Naik was largely silent during the COVID-19 pandemic between early 2020 and 2022, choosing not to release any new lectures in that time. Indeed, his silence was so conspicuous that several of the interviewees I spoke to assumed that he had left Malaysia.51 Many interviewees stated that his silence was likely tied to an incident in 2019 in which he commented on Tamil and Chinese Malaysians, creating a significant stir in Malaysian political and social establishments. Thus, as one interviewee mused, politicians would most likely have asked Naik to remain silent since another such incident would have drawn widespread attention to him and compelled his political supporters to ask him to leave the country.52

At the FIFA World Cup 2022, controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has arrived in Qatar upon invitation. Naik is accused of money laundering and hate speech in India. According to social media posts, he will deliver religious lectures throughout the competition.

Before becoming a public speaker, he was a medical physician. Naik has published booklet versions of lectures on Islam and comparative religion. Although he has publicly disclaimed sectarianism in Islam, he is regarded as an influential follower of the Salafi movement. His lectures on Peace TV have been viewed more than 200 million times as of 2013. In addition, Naik's colloquial style of lecturing has been immensely popular among Muslims across the entire world and has been award-winning.

Unlike many Islamic preachers, his lectures are colloquial, given in English, and he usually wears a suit and tie. Naik has held many debates and lectures and is said to "have delivered over 4000 lectures around the world" as of 2016. Naik explains the teachings of Islam as well as convincingly clears misconceptions about Islam with references from the Quran and Sahih Hadith, and with the help of reason, logic and science. He has a tremendous ability to quote extensively and verbatim from the Quran and from other religious scriptures. Naik says that his goal is to "concentrate on the educated Muslim youth who have become apologetic about their own religion and have started to feel the religion is outdated."

One IPS officer who graduated from NPA that year confirmed to newindianexpress.com that Zakir Naik had indeed been invited to speak at the academy. Now posted in Telangana, the officer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, recalled Zakir Naik's lecture: "Unlike other lectures at NPA, Zakir Naik's ended up in a heated debate between the preacher and some of the probationers who did not agree with his viewpoints."googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-8052921-2'); );

Naik faces charges of money laundering and hate speech in India and is reportedly set to give religious lectures during the tournament in Qatar. The ongoing FIFA World Cup began on November 20, 2022, and the final is set to be played on December 18, 2022.

1) There is no doubt that his lectures are a blatant attempt to convert. Indeed, there were four "instant converts" (an Indian Hindu, a Sarawakian Catholic, a local Catholic and a local Buddhist) during his session. Although these four swore that they were converting freely, their "spontaneity" was a little questionable. In fact, after each question session, Zakir will subtly goad his questioner to convert. Although he openly declared that he is not out there to convert, clearly he aims to do so and Zaid Ibrahim was dead right about his real motive;
