Skoč z věže Je důležité uvědomit si, že Ježíšovo poselství bylo dáno současně těm, kdo byli na špičkách společnosti, i těm na dně. Těm nahoře vždy říká: „Sestupte dolů. Zanechte své moci, své spravedlnosti, svých výkladů. Skočte z té své věže dolů.“ Těm na dně, malé Syroféničance (viz Mk 7,26), ženě s krvotokem (viz Mk 5,25), malomocným, „nýmandům“ vždy říká: „Vzmužte se! Máte víru. Běžte se ukázat kněžím. Máte sílu.“ Je evangelium pro utiskovatele a je evangelium pro utlačované – obracející kritéria sebehodnocení pro obě strany. Reakcí těch dobrých, řádných lidí „chodících do kostela“ je pobouření a skandál. A na konci některých pasáží se domlouvají, že Ježíše zabijí (viz Mk 3,6; 11,18). Ježíšův nový řád světa se nám nelíbí, zvláště když si myslíme, že jsme nahoře.

Jump Off the Tower It’s important to realize that Jesus’ message was being given, at the same time, to those on the top of society and to those on the bottom. To those on the top, he is always saying, “Come down. Give up your power, your righteousness, your explanations. Jump off the tower.” To those on the bottom, the little Syrophoenican woman (Mark 7:26), the woman with the hemorrhage (Mark 5:25), the lepers – all nobodies – he’s always saying, “Come up! You’ve got faith. Go show yourself to the priests. You’ve got the power.” There’s a gospel to the oppressors and a gospel to the oppressed, reversing both of their self-evaluations.
