Poslušný člověk Uzdravení, které v nás Bůh působí, dokonce i na takovém místě, jakým jsou Lurdy, je nárůstem schopnosti být poslušný, a tudíž i nárůstem schopnosti naslouchat. Poslušnost znamená naslouchání. Nebojte se být v tichu a o samotě, dohlížet nad tím, co říkáte, a psát si duchovní deník. Hlídejte své soudy i svůj cynismus. Uchovejte si prosté srdce dítěte. Zázrak dítěte je v tom, že vidí nové a nádherné věci a vstřebává je. Pán chce, abyste vstřebávali co nejvíce věcí, ale vstřebávali je tak, aby tu vytrvaly i rok poté, nejen v této chvíli. To jsou uzdravení, která budou trvalá, neboť za několik dnů se sama cesta stane vzpomínkou. Samotné Lurdy jsou pro nás při tomto putování do značné míry vzpomínkou. Většina z nás se sem pravděpodobně už nikdy nevrátí. A je důležité, abychom to prožili tak, aby i když odjedeme, stále nás naše pouť učila. Jsme na vnitřní cestě. Ta vnější je pouze symbol.

The Obedient Person The healing that God effects in us, even at a place like Lourdes, is an increased ability to be obedient and an increased ability, therefore, to listen. Obedience means listening. Don’t be afraid to be silent and alone, to guard the quality of your speech, to write a spiritual journal. Watch your judgments and your cynicisms. Keep a childlike, simple heart. The wonder of children is they see new things and beautiful things and take them in. The Lord wants you to take as much in as you can, but to take it in a way that it’s going to be there a year from now, not just for the moment. Those are the healings that are going to last, because in a few days this journey is going to be memory. Already Lourdes is largely a memory for us on this pilgrimage. Most of us will probably never be back here the rest of our lives. And the important thing is that we’ve experienced it in such a way that, even though we leave, it wll still be able to teach us.
