Učte své děti dobře Příští generaci musíme učit skutečnému významu velkomyslnosti a šlechetnosti. Svým dětem dávejte sebe namísto pouhých věcí. Nemůžete jim dát všechen svůj čas, ale když už čas máte, dejte jim poznat, že jste s nimi rádi. Ukažte jim, že si jich vážíte pro ně samé. Ženy se tomu naučily lépe než muži. Muži si mysleli, že můžeme mít děti rádi prostě tak, že pro ně vyděláváme peníze. My ale musíme učit své děti hluboké starostlivosti, aby si ji samy osvojily. Jedinou cestou, jak toho docílit, je starat se o druhé. Jestliže si stále stěžujete na to, že musíte vydávat příliš mnoho, že se od vás příliš mnoho žádá, pak se nedivte, že vaše děti jsou malicherné a lidé je zajímají méně než věci. Jestliže uvidí velkodušné, ušlechtilé, nebojácné srdce připravené ke skutkům víry, připravené sloužit, pak jsou inspirovány ke svatosti. Učte své děti, že tuto zemi nevlastníme, že „Hospodinova je země se vším, co je na ní“ (Ž 24,1). Jsme správci této země a musíme se učit, jak o ni pečovat, dřív než bude příliš pozdě.

Teach Your Children Well We’ve got to teach the next generation the real meaning of generosity. Give yourself to your children, as opposed to just giving them things. You can’t be with them all the time, but when you do have time, let them see you enjoy being with them. Let them see you value them simply for their own sakes. Women have learned this better than men. Men have thought we could love our children simply by earning money for them. But we have to teach our children how to care deeply, and then they move toward caretaking. The only way we can do that is by being caring people ourselves. If you’re constantly complaining about having to give too much, about how much is asked of you, don’t be surprised if your children are petty and selfish and do not care about people, much less about things. When they see a magnanimous, generous, fearless heart ready to make acts of faith, ready to serve, they are inspired to holiness. Teach your children that we don’t own this earth, that “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof” (Psalm 24:1).
