Synové a dcery Boží Nám křesťanům se při křtu říká, že jsme syny a dcerami Božími. Celý zbytek života nám pak zabere, abychom svému křtu uvěřili. Nemusíme si své místo zasloužit – už ho máme. Přijměme tuto terminologii: Vyšli jsme z božské přirozenosti, jsme děti Boží. Odkud odjinud bychom přišli? To, co bylo kdysi uvnitř Boha, je teď vně, a to jsme my. Křesťanství to samo ze sebe nezpůsobuje. Křesťanství to prostě ohlašuje, a my máme to štěstí, že jsme ta slova slyšeli. Jsme hlasatelé dobrých zpráv; prohlašujeme, že všichni jsme synové a dcery Boha. Ale je tu jeden problém; v mechanismu církve jsme to celé obrátili naruby. Lidé tráví celý život snahou získat to, co už mají, a snaží se, aby byli Boha hodni. Nemusíte si to zasloužit, už jste hodni. Jedinou věcí, která vás od Boha prvotně odděluje, je přesvědčení, že jste odděleni.

Sons and Daughters of God Christians are told at Baptism we are sons and daughters of God. It takes the rest of our lives to believe our Baptism. We don’t have to earn our place; we already have it. Let us agree to that: We are of the divine nature, we are children of God. Where else did we come from? What was once inside of God, is now outside of God and that is us. Christianity doesn’t make that happen. Christianity simply announces it, and we are the lucky ones who have heard it. We are the announcers of the Good News, we proclaim that all are the sons and daughters of God. But there’s a problem: What we have done in this functional Church is turn everything around. People are spending their whole lives trying to earn what they already have, trying to be worthy of God. You don’t get worthy; you are worthy.
