I bought a HF ultrasonic cleaner yesterday, the bigger model with heat.  With my coupon it was under $70.

I ran carb bowls and jets.  Reading on the 'net I used Simple Green in the tub.  The bowls were in for two 480 second cycles and the jets in for four 480 second cycles.

The results on the bowls are readily apparent.  The idle jets were all plugged solid with old gas varnish.  While I can't get a good picture, after running through the machine I can see light through all 4 of the idle jets and easily blow air through them.

This is WAY easier than soaking everything in carb cleaner and then trying to run a thin wire through the holes.

A whole carb will fit in the tub but I've not tried that yet.

Before and after pictures attached.

Hey Lee,

I assume you bought this one:  http://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-95563.html

I have been using this same one for about 3 years with similar results.  I have tried a variety of cleaning solutions, eventually settling on Simple Green also.  I have been using this Simple Green:

http://simplegreen.com/products/pro-hd-cleaner-degreaser/

It has been reported that the “regular” Simple Green is not safe for aluminum, but there are aluminum safe blends including the one above.

I have been looking to upgrade to a bigger sized cleaner.  Some carburetors do not fit into the Harbor Freight cleaner, you have to run them ½ at a time, flipping it over.

I have read good reviews about this model:

It is worth noting that you left the O rings in place, too and they appear to be ok. Whereas if you use carb cleaner all rubber and fiber components should be removed.

Please note that you ALWAYS need to run your parts in the "French Fry" basket if they provided to you.

If you run your parts with contact to the bottom of your "tub" you run the risk of damaging the sonic transducers

Also if have used dawn dish soap when it couldn't get any simple green aviation blend. But after doing some CB 750 carbs recently I used our tap water ie well water. The owner of the carbs may be a little miffed at my job done as a free favor because the dawn and well water even softened by culligan in this heated bath anodized the  carb body and carb tops to a greyish charcoal black!!!
