Cabinet Applications Update and Leadership Opportunities

Hello CHISPAS members,  I want to thank those of you who came out to our meeting tonight! I hope you all learned valuable information regarding the immigrant community here in Florida and got a chance to meet new people.  We hope you will consider applying for one of our cabinet positions. I want to remind all of you that even if you are not chosen for a cabinet position you can still get involved through our committees. At our next meeting, we will be announcing our new cabinet and have signup sheets for the committees. WE WANT TO INFORM ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE ALREADY APPLIED, that we might have not gotten your application due to a typo in our email address on the application itself. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but please send us your application (and let us know that you are resubmitting it). For those who are yet waiting to apply, the application has been corrected and could be found attached to this email by visiting our website www.chispasuf.org. You need to submit your application by Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. via email tochis...@gmail.com.  If you are interested in mentoring high school students, please make sure to attend one of the following meetings: 1) Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. in Little Hall Room 205 or 2) Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at La Casita. (La Casita is located on West University Avenue between Chipotle and the Institute of Black Culture house.) It is mandatory for new members to attend one of the meetings in order to participate in the program. If you are not able to attend any of these meetings, please email Beatriz at bde...@ufl.edu.  Other leadership opportunities are available via outside networks. Attached is a list of local and nationwide opportunities for our members to get involved with. If you wish to be a part of any of these activities or events please email us chis...@gmail.com.  The next involvement opportunity is the White House Summit in Orlando, which is this weekend (Sept. 9-10). The White House Summit will gather all the activism organizations in Florida who demand immigrant attention, and give them a chance to speak to White House representatives. If you are interested in coming along with us or need a ride, please email Beatriz at bde...@ufl.edu. Our next general body meeting is Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in Reitz Room 286 (same room).
