CHISPAS members,

 

November is here, and we are hitting the ground running. We have many opportunities for you all to come out and show support for CHISPAS.

 

Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., we are having a fundraising social at the Gelato Company in Downtown Gainesville. Please bring yourselves, your sweet tooth and many friends.

 

Also, join CHISPAS in the Tunnel of Oppression on Thursday Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Broward Basement! This event will give you a sense of how minorities are oppressed in this country and give you an opportunity to do something about it. Come out and see the tradegies for yourself.

 

Lastly, the Hispanic Caucus is circulating a letter that will be sent to Gov. Rick Scott against his intent to pass Arizone-like immigration bills in Florida. The letter expresses the discontent for these types of legislation within the Hispanic-Latino community, as well as other communities who support diversity in our American states. If anyone is interested in learning more about this letter or signing it, please come to our next general body meeting Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in room 286 at the Reitz Union. In this meeting Rural Women's Health Project community organizers, Fran and Robyn, will be giving a workshop on leadership skills.
