Meeting Nov 9 - Want to contribute to CHIRP's music-related tech projects?

Hey everyone,

I know I've spoken with many of you already, but I wanted to put a note out to the larger group to gauge interest in working on some of CHIRP's music-related tech projects. Even though we approach radio in a pretty traditional way (well, as traditional as a streaming operation can get), we're doing a lot of things tech-wise that other stations might only dream of. We have a huge digital library and a handful of neat web-apps that make the lives of our DJs considerably easier. However, there's always room for improvement, and that's what I'd like to talk to all of you about.

I'm tentatively scheduling a meeting for the afternoon of Saturday, November 9, from 4:30-6:30pm at the CHIRP studios. This will be a sort of introductory take-a-look-and-kick-the-tires gathering so that people can familiarize themselves with some of the tools we use at CHIRP and then start brainstorming about how we can make them better. There are some really cool ideas floating around already, from rethinking the way our music collection is organized to making it simpler for DJs to find new music and plan their shows, and I'm sure with a group like this we can come up with some amazing things to do that haven't even been considered yet. And because this is supposed to be the fun stuff, I'll even throw in some pizza for your time and effort.

This meeting is open to anyone interested, whether you're a skilled coder or just into organizing information. I want to get people talking and collaborating without overwhelming anyone, so I'd like to start out slow and just focus on generating ideas. If it seems fun and interesting, we'll look at how to get it done and take it from there.

But first, I need to hear from you if you plan on attending. Please RSVP as soon as possible if you're going to be there so we can plan accordingly (and ensure ample pizza). Also, please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions I should be aware of, and I'll do my best to work around them.
