we all love music right...

observation:
what i've been noticing (for years now) is that indians tend to
gravitate a lot toward english music while it's the other way for
NRI's...not in everyone's case of course, but it happens a lot

dilemma:
so here i am, with no hindi radio to listen to... :(

idea:
so i thought maybe we shud start a music post on here...

it'll be like a *song of the week*, where everyone who wants to can
recommend one song per week (no repeating of course) and so we'll all
learn more abt what kinds of music we all like too, huh?
so anyone who likes this idea, feel free to post the name and artist of
the song (no links since we all have our own preferred ways of getting
our music right?), and it might also be nice if u put 'english' or
'hindi' in the subject of the post [only if u want]
of course, there r other languages in the world too! i listen to some
japanese music for instance so i might also post that stuff for u guys
to try...
also, since posts can be rated (kewl idea eh?) that can act as a rating
for the song posted...

mine is [english]:
song: "Dice"
artist: Finley Quaye

hey ppl
ooo my fav songs this week were....umm

ashley simpson-LOVE
pussy cat dolls-buttons(swear i hate them but this song is cool)
and my all time favourite-SO YESTERDAY-by hilary duff-the video rox and the sopng is even more cooler

SO YESTERDAY-

You can change your life - if you wanna
You can change your clothes - if you wanna
If you change your mind
Well, that's the way it goes

But I'm gonna keep your jeans
And your old black hat - cause I wanna
They look good on me
You're never gonna get them back

At least not today, not today, not today
'cause

[Chorus:]
If it's over, let it go and
Come tomorrow it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
I'm just a bird that's already flown away

Laugh it off let it go and
When you wake up it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
Haven't you heard that I'm gonna be okay

You can say you're bored - if you wanna
You can act real tough - if you wanna
You can say you're torn
But I've heard enough

Thank you... you made my mind up for me
When you started to ignore me
Do you see a single tear
It isn't gonna happen here
At least not today, not today, not today
'cause

[Chorus]

If you're over me, I'm already over you
If it's all been done, what is left to do
How can you hang up if the line is dead
If you wanna walk, I'm a step ahead
If you're moving on, I'm already gone
If the light is off then it isn't on
At least not today, not today, not today
'cause

ENGLISH
CHRITINA
the most lovely song that i have ever heard read the lyrics abd tell me
she won a grammy for it
the idae is TOO GOOD ekta though i have not heard ur song i'll try too
ok

BEAUTIFUL
Every day is so wonderful
Then suddenly
It's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
>From all the pain
I'm so ashamed

I am beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring me down
OHH No No
So don't you bring me down today
HMM HMM

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
OHH HMM
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone
Ain't that the way it is

Cause you are beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
OHH NO OH
Cause you are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring you down
OHH NO OH
So don't you bring me down today

No matter what we do
(No matter what we do)
No matter what we say
(No matter what we say)
We're the song inside the tune
(OH NO OH)
Full of beautiful mistakes

And every where we go
(And every where we go)
The sun will always shine
(The sun will always, always shine)
And tommorrow we might awake
On the other side

Cause we are beautiful
No matter what they say
Yes words won't bring us down
NO NO OH
And we are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring us down
OH NO OH
So don't you bring me down today
OH NO OH YEAH
Don't you bring me down today
NO OH YEAH YEAH OH NO
Don't you bring me down HMM today

umm...the one biggest classic in my life [gosh we've really forgotten the whole *one song per week* thing havent' we?] has always been:
song: humma humma
movie: bombay [i think]
more importantly, by: a r rahman :)
tell me if u guys love a r rahman's music, cuz i absolutely do!

but plz, let's stick with the rule ok? it's too much for my computer to get so many songs so frequently...

If its one song per week mine would definitely be

English - Coldplay - Speed of Sound

And

Hindi - (a bit old but still) Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy - Dil Chahta Hai(
Title Track)

And otherwise my all time( Top 10 Eng) favs are

1 Creed 2 Linkin Park 3 REM 4 Beatles 5 Red Hot Chilli Peppers 6 Bon
Jovi
7 Limp Bizkit 8 ColdPlay 9 Dire Straits 10 U2

And also not to forget --- Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Led zeppelin

My God! There is so much good music to listen to.....

As far as rating goes

Recommended- Californication, Rehman, Rafi and in fact all of the
classics posted here
Not Recommended- Backstreet Boys ( Sorry but it bugs the hell out of
me), Humma Humma

Also I sincerely feel RBD and KANK title tracks are not up to
expectations...

PS : ANYONE FOR ALTAF RAJA'S - HARJAAYEE HA HA HA

anku we are so on the same wavelength! ;P i lovee 'kehna hi kya' and always have! also, 'tu hi re'....some just really surreal songs that i consider evergreens for some reason....hehe....
as for suraj roy, we are so not on the same wavelength! HOW can u say no to 'humma humma'??? what do u have against it??
same goes for bsb, i just don't understand...

matching matching!!!!ekta i know what u mean when u say that we are one
the same wavelenght!!!
well i have a suggestion....u know we are all telling that what songs
we like and why do we like them but please(for everyone esp fpr
suraj)that does not give us ANY right whatsoever to condemn what other
person likes..we all have diff point of views..we may agree on some and
or not. i.ve learned that until someone asks ur opinion u must avoid
from giving it....i hope that i have not offended anyone but i just
felt that this was saomething we must know....

my song:STRINGS( THE PAKISTANI BAND)
THE SONGS ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AMAZING THAT I FEEL A FEELING OF
CALM AND EXCITEDNESS AT ONCE IF U CAN IMAGINE THAT FEELING!!!!

WOW WOW this is kinda great you know, aseem is screaming since ages to
start rating songs all of us posted, now that i rated them according to
my wish, you people are being upset. Rating means i can rate a song
good or bad, and i didnt even say the songs are bad i only said i
personally dont recommend them, if i dont like a song i would not
recommend it, simple(for everyone esp anku this is not ANYHOW called
condemning). If you cant even stand that much, send a caution "DONT
CALL THIS SONG BAD" whenever you post a song, ok?

I agree. The whole group let alone the thread is based on total freedom
of choice or expression (Without hurting anybody i may add).

Now it is natural for him to recommend or not recommend songs which he
likes or not. so no big deal.

And my dear ankit it always comes down to that - :

Sala Kabhi to hamari Bhawnao ko samjho.
If anyone has cable, you should know whom i am talking abt.

ok i think we're getting a bit carried away by this...for fear of being a hypocrite i'm gonna say here that when i read suraj's post saying 'not recommended: humma humma' i got....a lil bit angry....more so, my mouth was hanging open cuz that's an *all-time favorite* song of mine...n i was in a bit of a huff n immediately 'invited [him] to chat'...basically with the intention of arguing with him over it....
lol! but that was kidna pathetic uknow...i've previously pointed out to other ppl how u *shouldn't* take these things personally at all, so suraj, anku, n the rest, i think we shud be free to rate songs like we'd initally planned...cuz if someone posts any rap on here, u can be sure i'm gonna rate it bad! lol...plus i guess he was pretty polite abt the way he said it (even if it didn't seem like it at the time) so it's ok as long as ure not rude or offensive...which i'm sure we all agree with eh?

as for my song...
i like this one cuz despite the words (i don't pay much attention to lyrics most of the time) it's a very happy-sounding song :D
song: 'nobody wants to be lonely'
by: christina aguilera and ricky martin [i'm not particularly fond of either...but this song is great]

n do tell me what u think (ratings or otherwise)!

ok i confess i haven't been listening to the songs posted here but i just went n listened to *all* the songs i didn't know from the last *many* posts....
so is it just me or is the opening of "have u every really" by brian adams totally identical to the opening of "tujhe dekha to" from DDLJ? cuz i don't like to think bollywood copied that....

in semi-suraj style:
i liked: bj thompson 'raindrops...' (it was 'nice' n it made me smile), sayonee, sultans of swing (yes i had to go that far back), fanaa (i was obsessed), i won't desert you
didn't: sutta (didn't like the singing), rock is dead (kinda cool but not for me), fired up (rap!)

speaking of the matrix soundtrack: "session" by linkin park

the rest of the english ones...were either boring or neutral...

yup it is and there must be a zillion others which seem identical.

but sometimes the music can seem ientical without an actual intention
to do so unlike most of Anu Malik songs.

I have an example as well, my Bhaiya's band Parikrama has a song - But
It rained which has similar music to a beatles song ( i think -help
from classmates) which is completely unintentional.
Anyways

Song - But It Rained

well no comments on that....

English: Creed- My own Prison
Hindi: Main Hoon Don ( Don - The Chase Begins Again) (I have only
heard the part thats in the trailer but am quite impressed with that, i
suppose no one has a problem with me suggesting unreleased tracks)

PS

aseems bhaiya is in parikrama, he told me.

Session is no way the matrix soundtrack, its the song called matrix
song by moby. session is only the first track of the reloaded OST
album. There are three more themes featured in trailers and in similar
stuff...

Also if anyone wants to hear, some matrix tracks are freely available
on :-

Yeah , my dad's brother but as he is abt 10 yrs elder than me so i call
him bhaiya. His name is Chintan Kalra and he is the member (one of th
creators) of Parikrama. He is prob the reason that i like rock (Pink
floyd) caus ehe is a big fan of that genre too. I recently attended his
concert called Think FLoyd as a tribute to the band.

ppl(ekta) i am sorry and did not mean to offend anybody, the point is
vicky's post was refering to the matrix theme by moby not the linkin
park one, it wont be fair if people start listening to a different song
thinking it is the one being suggested. If someone recommends a song
called fanaa which is in the movie yuva and someone else says that its
the one in humko deewana....., would it be my fault if try to correct
the person about which song was being actually suggested.

ps. Actually matrix has about two dozen themes so its not your fault
either.... :)

hi guys & gals

i think all of u must check out 'lage raho munna bhai' its a wonderful movie.i must say tat d serious subject of ghandhism has been dealt so coolly tat at no point in movie u think tat its gettin heavier.(i dont mean 2 say tat its a serious movie)acting by every1 is so fabulous specially by arshad warsi.there isnt any connection b/w ist & 2nd movie altough 1 or 2 jokes ve been repeated &sum situations go on to d same platform yet entirely different.i think it was d 1st time after getting into college i enjoyed myself so much.(except wen rakyesh om prakash mehra came 2 our colg 2 ve an informal discussion,it was fun). must watch 4 those who watch movies 4 fun(like me) & also 4 those who watch movie 4 its core(like.........) & also 4 those who admire or believe in ghandhigiri(like anshu kaul mam). vidya ballan is lukin tooooooooo pretty. so ppl go out, chill, tension nahi leneka.

havent heard those but there is a very very famous track by duran
duran, its called 'come undone' and also a Breaking Benjamin track
called 'Blow Me Away' which i found in the Halo album, both songs are
good....
In Hindi, there are two new songs which are rapidly gaining fame and i
exactly dont know the names of, please correct if i have posted the
wrong names ... One (probably) is 'tere bin' ( its a song by aatif

so here's me wasting time again...but i've finally started listening to the songs u guys posted...

i was initially gonna do this song by song, but it got too complicated...and there was too many 'i really really lovee...'s n it was getting repetivite...so here we are:
i really really love: tere bin by atif, kya mujhe pyaar hai by kk, aashayein from iqbal
didn't particularly like: pal pal (*too* sweet), main hoon don (u guys r influenced by the visuals for sure)
and until i can figure out how to dl music here at uni on my mac, i m so screwed when it comes to music, especially all of the english music u all posted... :( so i haven't even heard those yet...

anyway, here's my rec's:

lifehouse: you and me....i, for some reason, consider this a really romantic song n i love to play it in my head from time to time.....makes me sigh with happiness n warmth actually.... :) [tell me if anyone agrees...]
leanne rhymes: can't fight the moonlight...i'm pretty sure certain ppl here r gonna dislike, if not hate, this song...but i love it...
ajay's recommendations of jagjit singh's songs (i haven't heard em all yet) reminded me of this very beautiful song: 'badi nazuk hai yeh mansil' from Jogger's Park...

now lemme take a minute to thank u, suraj, for introducing me to my latest fav song (kya mujhe pyaar hai)!...i absolutely love it :D
omg, n kk's voice....i really love it too (can't remember who said they liked him)....
