observation:
what i've been noticing (for years now) is that indians tend to
gravitate a lot toward english music while it's the other way for
NRI's...not in everyone's case of course, but it happens a lot
dilemma:
so here i am, with no hindi radio to listen to... :(
idea:
so i thought maybe we shud start a music post on here...
it'll be like a *song of the week*, where everyone who wants to can
recommend one song per week (no repeating of course) and so we'll all
learn more abt what kinds of music we all like too, huh?
so anyone who likes this idea, feel free to post the name and artist of
the song (no links since we all have our own preferred ways of getting
our music right?), and it might also be nice if u put 'english' or
'hindi' in the subject of the post [only if u want]
of course, there r other languages in the world too! i listen to some
japanese music for instance so i might also post that stuff for u guys
to try...
also, since posts can be rated (kewl idea eh?) that can act as a rating
for the song posted...
mine is [english]:
song: "Dice"
artist: Finley Quaye
So here mine
Hindi
Song-- " Mitwa "
Film--- " Kabhi Alvida na Kehna "
Singer(Awesome Vocals)-- Shafaaq Ahmad From the band FUZON(or FUSION).
BEAUTIFUL
Every day is so wonderful
Then suddenly
It's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
>From all the pain
I'm so ashamed
I am beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring me down
OHH No No
So don't you bring me down today
HMM HMM
To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
OHH HMM
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone
Ain't that the way it is
Cause you are beautiful
No matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
OHH NO OH
Cause you are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring you down
OHH NO OH
So don't you bring me down today
No matter what we do
(No matter what we do)
No matter what we say
(No matter what we say)
We're the song inside the tune
(OH NO OH)
Full of beautiful mistakes
And every where we go
(And every where we go)
The sun will always shine
(The sun will always, always shine)
And tommorrow we might awake
On the other side
Cause we are beautiful
No matter what they say
Yes words won't bring us down
NO NO OH
And we are beautiful
In every single way
Yes words can't bring us down
OH NO OH
So don't you bring me down today
OH NO OH YEAH
Don't you bring me down today
NO OH YEAH YEAH OH NO
Don't you bring me down HMM today

and also, boondon se baatein is my favourite too....
IN HINDI BLACK FRIDAY BY INDIAN OCEAN
ok i confess i haven't been listening to the songs posted here but i just went n listened to *all* the songs i didn't know from the last *many* posts....
so is it just me or is the opening of "have u every really" by brian adams totally identical to the opening of "tujhe dekha to" from DDLJ? cuz i don't like to think bollywood copied that....
in semi-suraj style:
i liked: bj thompson 'raindrops...' (it was 'nice' n it made me smile), sayonee, sultans of swing (yes i had to go that far back), fanaa (i was obsessed), i won't desert you
didn't: sutta (didn't like the singing), rock is dead (kinda cool but not for me), fired up (rap!)
speaking of the matrix soundtrack: "session" by linkin park
the rest of the english ones...were either boring or neutral...On 8/19/06, Ekta Wali <unit...@gmail.com> wrote:song: when it's over

i guess i associate this song with a nice part of my life, good times...so i like this song even more than i would for just its laid back- n niceness :)
songs: chalka chalka re, chupke se
from: saathiya
....i love songs like these....on high volume in a car especially...
song: hajimari no hi

but sometimes the music can seem ientical without an actual intention
to do so unlike most of Anu Malik songs.
I have an example as well, my Bhaiya's band Parikrama has a song - But
It rained which has similar music to a beatles song ( i think -help
from classmates) which is completely unintentional.
Anyways
Song - But It Rained
Band - Parikrama (quite famous indian band)
them clones - awaken (great band from india, somg available free of cost at their official website)
English: Creed- My own Prison
Hindi: Main Hoon Don ( Don - The Chase Begins Again) (I have only
heard the part thats in the trailer but am quite impressed with that, i
suppose no one has a problem with me suggesting unreleased tracks)
PS
aseems bhaiya is in parikrama, he told me.
Session is no way the matrix soundtrack, its the song called matrix
song by moby. session is only the first track of the reloaded OST
album. There are three more themes featured in trailers and in similar
stuff...
Also if anyone wants to hear, some matrix tracks are freely available
on :-
for further info -
ps. Actually matrix has about two dozen themes so its not your fault
either.... :)
English-
Bon Jovi - Have A Nice Day
U2 - Bullet The Blue Sky
Tracks-
Moby - James Bond Techno Soundtrack
Moby - Bourne Identity Soundtrack
GO U2
so here goes .... a list of my favourite songs
English:
Bon Jovi: It's my life
Boyzone: It's only words
and the theme song from MI2
Hindi:
Basically (and acidically) I'am a huge fan of KK and I can listen to
any of his songs
