Hi all breeders and owners of intact Chinooks.  We're getting set to resend our pedigree data to the population geneticists to be re-run.  The most important thing from a population perspective is to get accurate data on the breeding population (aka, dogs that are not spayed and neutered).
Breeders- please update your information in the CPP folder on google drive  - link is below.  The relevant column is H (Status - values are Neutered or Intact).  If you have any questions, or complications, you can email me any updates and I can make them for you.

Please make any updates by 11:59pm Monday 13 July.  Sorry for the short notice.

May I forward to CCA-L and Chinook-L?

Sure, Deb, Feel free to forward, but CCA refused to support the work a couple years ago, so you should check with those list moderators to see if the content is acceptable first.

Done, Tx. :)
best, susan
P.S.  I added Fluffy's RIP/death data too.  (Nome's still kicking, we're trying to make her 15th bday yet here.)
P.S.S.  Ginger, please update A H Nakoda Rain to also Neuter, if he is so, tx.  I almost did so, but decided never to assume.

Hi Karen,

All looks good for Wachusett Chinooks, except for Wachusett Forsilvra Floki who is a bit over one years old. I give my pet placement owners up to 28 months to make the final decision, if they want to keep their pup open, after health testing is done.  I believe he is still intact, as are the others from that litter.  I was not able to change it myself.

Thanks, Donna

Thanks, Donna.  I was able to update Floki for you.  Did you get an error trying to make the change?  Just want to make sure Google Drive isn't being TOO temperamental!

I updated mine:  3 males that were intact are now neutered: Moonsong Dr. No was neutered b/c of thyroid problems, Moonsong BC died last month right after an unsuccessful breeding attempt- not frozen, and Rain Mountain Muckleshoot Song was just neutered but has frozen semen.

Susan,
A H Nakoda Rain is still intact- the owners have not neutered him yet.

What?  You seem to have developed the penchant for trying to direct my breeding program Susan.  I'm not sure why that is.  What makes you think that Kody Joe is neutered when he's only been bred the one time?  And of that litter we have just one male and one female moving forward and we don't even know yet if they will pass their health tests.  His co-owners are in no hurry to neuter him.  His pups are gorgeous; Rune is turning into a big strapping Chinook boy that I'm looking forward to using at stud someday.  He'll be the perfect mate for Toketie when she's old enough to breed.

Last time you were sure I'd bred Elizabeth to an unregistered stud, if I remember right and you were sure that I hadn't done her DNA simply because I hadn't made a public announcement.  Now you're neutering Kody Joe.  Which of my dogs are you going to start commenting on next?

Oh, Carie - I'm so sorry to hear about BC!

Thanks to everyone for such quick turnaround!  Just fyi- there have been a couple of cases of dogs that are intact but not intended for breeding.  For these dogs, definitely leave them noted as intact (as you've done), and there is a column called Reference Population which denotes dogs that should be analyzed as the breeding population, so you can (or ask me to) set these dogs to "0" in this column so they are not included.

Hi Karen,

I know this is late, but have just noticed that's Reine's name is not correct. It is Moonsong Small Wonder, not Wonders.

Thanks, Jean

Carie; Thanks for the info on Kody Rain.  And RIP MS BC.  Also hope Dr No remains well.  One more Male in cryo too can't hurt, might help, aye.  Although it's likely the fresh semen that will prove best with this genome teetering the way it is, etc.  best, susan

I just rechecked the also Ref Pop field on all my Atholl and Tullibardine kids, aye.  Looks good.  Fram's cancer is progressing but slowly, thankfully, so obviously leaving him set to '0'.  Also leaving A Odetta and Stevie set to '1' this update/Analysis.  However, by this time next year, they will have aged wholly in to the geriatric years by most clinical definitions (if they haven't already), as also maiden females, although still both cycling normally, etc.  Odetta has the also prior GI diagnosis, however.  My F1 females remain fit, as does their litterbro; So leaving them marked also '1' this Analysis.  best, susan

I remain also UNCLEAR whether her UKC SDR was effected legally/by the also UKC/COA Rules, eh?  Thanks for further info.  Because if it was by another out of current bounds processes; Then it's a shame you are shooting the also legal efforts within COA in the foot these ways, frankly.  best, susan

Ginger, I think she is asking because last year you had posted to the lists that Kody was going to be neutered right after his breeding to Raksha, in case anyone else wanted to use him before he was neutered.

Thank you, Carie. This is not personal, then as now.  It's genomic.  Simple math (getting simpler by the day/litter/year since, well 1939).  best, susan
