Hello to All,
Yes, I want to hear all about your pet peeves! What an opportunity! I am serving on the ILS RFP Evaluation Group for the LCLD and have been tasked with collecting real world scenarios of issues you have encountered when trying to use your current system. Also, if you have ever thought “Gee, I wish our ILS could ______________?” then we would like to hear about that too. So, what has stumped you or caused you to do a pretty complicated work around when using your current ILS. This can be in any area of use circulation, patron management, item discovery, and more. For me, it’s three things:
-We have no probabilistic/smart search
-It would be nice to find an ILS that can handle custom JSON reports and also has at least a functional GUI tool for less database-savvy users who just want to run a quick one-off list of items based on a few basic search criteria.
-I’d like more documentation written for users (as in library staff), rather than by and for people maintaining servers. Often when I try to learn more about a Koha feature, I can find very detailed and granular instructions on how to implement, configure and manage the feature on the server side, but I still sometimes come away with no hint as to what the feature in question actually is or does.
