Has Koha gone silent? We usually hear dings and pings while checking things in and out. Anyone else experiencing this?

Mariah,

Try going into Home > Administration > System preferences, select the “Staff client” tab from the sidebar on the left. Scroll down to “Options” and make sure “AudioAlerts” is set to “Enable.”

Hi Mariah--
I just checked an item in and got the not-checked-out noise.  Have you checked to see that your speakers are still turned on?  One of my fairly recent Windows updates reset them on this computer.

I've just checked and we are "enabled" for audio alerts.

I was trying to find where the "events defined in the audio alerts section of administration" is located, maybe somehow our definitions have changed.

I suspect that changing audio alerts in the system preferences will change the setting for all libraries.  Please let everyone know if you're making a system-wide change. Thanks--

Mariah--
Are the computers you're using able to play sounds?  Have you tried listening to a YouTube recording?  Since the other libraries are all reporting that Koha audio alerts are working, I would explore the computer settings to see if anything has changed.

Okay--that's just weird.  I think it's time to put in a ticket to ByWater.  Can someone at Clatsop do that?  If not, please let me know.

I didn't actually notice until I saw this thread, but we're not hearing anything from Koha either. Sounds from Youtube/Work Instagram yes but nothing from Koha.

HI Harrison--
Real answer? I think so, but would have to check.  If it's on the page for global system preferences, then it is for all libraries.  I don't see a way to limit the audio alerts to a single branch or library, so that also sounds like a system-wide setting.  It would be worth searching the Koha wiki.  If you find an answer, please let me know!
Thanks--

We found it is a Firefox problem.  We use Firefox for Koha and they block sound for all websites and you have to go in and add an exception to allow notifications.  Go to options in Firefox, privacy and security, Permissions and notifications.  Click on Exceptions next to Block websites and add the Koha URL to the address line.  Click Allow and save.  You should have a ding.

Firefox started updating the end of March and they roll out the updates gradually.  We had one computer stop and the others followed slowly.
