I have been really frustrated with the growing number of patron purchase suggestions that are appearing at the bottom of the main Koha page but don't show up when looking at a particular library.

Todd says this is a bug and they are going to be working on it but for now these items are findable if you follow his suggestions below.

I'm going to do a bit of clean-up on the list right now and get rid of the really old suggestions.

Hi Diedre!

We received your ticketed request, thank you. Yes ma'am, that has recently
become a known issue and our developer Nick is putting in a ticket on this. The
information is there, you just need to do the following to see it:

(From our developer, Nick:)

The filter is a bit hidden, but under 'Acquisition information' on the left
side fo the screen is a dropdown to filter by library. (see attachments)

If you set this to 'Any' you should see the 9 suggestions. You can find them at
this link as well:
https://staff.lcld.bywatersolutions.com/cgi-bin/koha/suggestion/suggestion.pl?displayby=STATUS&budgetid=__ANY__&branchcode=__ANY__

It seems that anonymous suggestions are not assigned to a branch and so don't
show by default when signed in at a library.

Let me know if that works or if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Nick

There is something very odd going on with Purchase Suggestions and I think it hasn't been working correctly for some time.  The number of suggestions keeps growing but when I go in and look at the suggestions for each library there have been no suggestions listed.

Today I checked, because the number of suggestions jumped from around 36 to 54 in the last week.  I can only find 2 suggestions and they are for the Siletz Library.  The funny thing about these two suggestions is they also show under Toledo, Tillamook Bay Community College, and Waldport.  This is a new twist in the purchase suggestion weirdness.

I am concerned because it looks like patron suggestions are falling into a black hole.  Patrons might wonder if we are ever taking their suggestions.  At this time we aren't because we can't see them.

Well, I wasted a little bit of time looking things up because it seems that someone in Waldport did the same thing at the same time.  Anyway, we are whittling down the list.  It's now down to 34 from 54 earlier this afternoon.

I whittled the list down to 3 items.  Many of the requests have been ordered unless they were older items and then I referred them to ILL.  Of the 3 items left two just aren’t available yet so leaving them on the list is fine. They were requested by Waldport patrons.  They happen to be items I would also like to add to the Siletz collection and I have an order in on the book for when it becomes available.  One is an item that I’m sure Toledo is not interested in purchasing but I just didn’t want to make that decision for you.

Anyway, it is good to have this list back under control. You can check the Accepted and Rejected lists to see what had been sitting in this weird limbo.  I am hoping Bywater can get it fixed so that request will show up by Library in the future but for now if you see some requests have come in just look under Any to see if it is something you want to get for your library.

By the way, I go in as the Chinook Library Network when dealing with patron requests most of the time.
