1). Summer Chinese Language Director

Middlebury Interactive Languages is currently looking for a Chinese
speaking Language Director to work in a special language immersion
course in Pomona California. MMLA, an intensive four-week language
immersion program, offers students opportunities to study Arabic,
Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Italian, or Spanish with skilled
educators at nine sites across the US. Our program is 5 weeks. Your
housing and food is provided during the program.

The Language Director is a senior administrator that works in close
consultation with the Site Manager to implement and appropriately
adapt the MMLA curriculum, guidelines, and policies. The LD leads a
team of experienced educators and the Residential Advisor to create a
unique immersion academic program. The Language Director will report
to the Site Manager.

The Language Director is charged with creating a positive learning
environment that is diverse in activities and experiences. The LD is
in charge of all programmatic events that occur in his/her academy.
The LD is an enthusiastic and supportive individual who can
appropriately task his/her team to plan and implement academic and non-
academic daily activities for students.
Qualifications:

Command a high degree of spoken and written proficiency in Mandarin
Chinese; extensive experience working with middle or high school
students; leadership experience. This is a residential position. All
employees will be provided room and board. They will have scheduled
time off each day and week, two full days off during the 4-week
session and one half day off during orientation. All employees pay
for their travel to and from program locations. Housing is not
provided for family members.

Yinghua Academy, Chinese Immersion School, is seeking applicants for
our Mandarin Chinese Immersion classrooms. Yinghua Academy is the
nation's first Chinese Immersion public charter school. This is a
unique opportunity to be part of a growing and distinguished Chinese
Immersion school, and to teach all subject areas in Mandarin Chinese.
Yinghua Academy is a public charter school with 60 staff members, and
375 students. The school is known for its rigorous academic program,
and excellent level of Chinese language learning.

Position requirements:
* MN teaching license in elementary or secondary education, or
the ability to obtain a license or alternative licensure
* Additional teaching license in Chinese preferred, but not
required
* Demonstrated ability to meet the school's standards for
Chinese language proficiency, both oral and written
Qualifications:
* Prior immersion classroom teaching experience preferred
* Understanding effective teaching strategies for immersion
language learners
* Understanding and experience in teacher collaboration and
problem solving skills
* Experience with curriculum development and assessment/
evaluation design
* Willingness to work cooperatively with parents in an
immersion school context
* Use of technology as a language learning and instructional
tool
