SPECIFIC SKILLS/QUALIFICATIO NS:

Applicants must be fluent (native or near native proficiency) in
Mandarin Chinese; have a MS degree; and be eligible to work in a MA
charter school (i.e. pass the appropriate MTEL licensing tests within
a year of hire or hold a current MA elementary/secondar y teaching
license). Advanced degree in education and experience teaching in a
Chinese immersion program and/or U.S. elementary school preferred.

The Director of Education (DE) reports to the Principal. The Director
of Education will oversee the day-to-day management of the educational
program. The Director of Education will play an essential role in the
implementation and development of the curriculum, assessment program,
the staff development of the teaching staff, and administration of the
federal grants program. He/she works with the principal, teachers, and
staff to analyze, assess, and improve educational programs.

Duties include:

• Supervising non-SPED instructional staff, including ELL
staff. Works with Principal to hire non-SPED instructional faculty.
Mentoring and assessing teachers. Overseeing the professional
development program. Supporting teachers on all teaching-related
issues.

• Ensuring that the curriculum and instructional techniques
support PVCICS’s mission and philosophy, and that the curriculum is
aligned with the MA Curriculum Frameworks. Reviewing and offering
feedback on teachers’ curricula and teaching. Reviewing PVCICS’s
curricula to determine effectiveness and overseeing implementation of
changes.

• Creating plans for communication between parents, faculty
and administration. Collecting feedback on the educational program.
Communicating with parents about student concerns.

• Ensuring PVCICS meets its student achievement objectives.

will communicate well with parents, staff and teachers in the school.

team member committed to building and promoting the school's Mandarin
Chinese immersion program.
