Wiki is good at sharing ideas and work together through internet. After
comparing several farms I've decided to use pbwiki as the main wiki
site for the course. Please take a look at http://hanyu.pbwiki.com
where hanyu means Chinese.
Blogs are web publishing tool to me. It's useful since it's easy to
bring to readers well formatted articles and easy uploaded images as
well. I have several blogs but I would like to use
http://blog.hexun.com/emptist more often. Blogger is nice though it's
not available in P.R. China. Yahoo Blog is no good for education it
even has no tags. Another blog is on
http://blog.myspace.com/winner81168 but it requires registering to the
site to view bloggs. Not very interesting then.
Mailing list and groups are very popular in early days and still is
very useful as a question and answer or announcing tool. I have two
groups, one is here on yahoo
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Learn_Chinese_Online/ and another is on
google since it moving fast and I expect new features be added to its
group products. Google group is easy to search using the name "Chinese
On-line" (when you search remember you have "group" checked) and it's
at http://groups.google.com/group/chineseonline.
Now one last thing. I'll be sharing texts and mp3 files with you. Where
to put them? I have decided to build my own site the next summer. For
now I'll have to use some free hosts. But to protect those who pay me,
file sharing will be limited to the scope of paid learners. So I have
looked for some file sharing software while I found shinkuro
http://www.shinkuro.com/faq.php. Please download it if you want to
share my files and that is freeware runs on Mac/Win/Linux.
For classes I plan to use Skype since its high quality and cross
platform access.
That is all for now. Please give me you advices. Thank you!
