batyr welcomes a $2.8 million investment to amplify the
voices of young people online

We are incredibly excited to share that the Coalition Government has announced $2.8 million in funding to batyr, over three years, in last nights budget.

This funding will be invested to support a new project for batyr that will see the stories of young people with lived experiences of mental ill-health amplified through a digital platform.

It’s our FIRST EVER round of federal government funding and an important recognition of the importance and value in sharing lived experience stories to reduce stigma and increase help seeking behaviour.

Last year batyr launched a digital story sharing campaign, “I Am” with young people who have a lived experience of mental ill-health to trial the impact of digital storytelling. The campaign was incredibly successful and reached over 1.7 million Australians.

Our goal is that young Aussies everywhere will be able to access and hear positive stories about mental health.

We look forward to bringing this project to life in collaboration with industry experts, researchers, service providers and mental health organisations. In conjunction with the ongoing growth of our school and university programs this initiative will allow us to reach more young people with our positive messages of hope, resilience and positivity.

This funding is part of $460m dedicated to youth mental health and suicide prevention, which included funding for an additional 30 new Headspace centres and $4 million to Kids Helpline. Meaning that more young people across the country will have access to the mental health services they need.

Super excited for what's to come. Watch this space!
