problem with typing 儿 on macbook pro osx 10.5.8

Hi there, I have a problem.. I can't type (using the ITABC mode) this
character 儿... Like when I try to type "Ni zai nar", it ends up like
this:" 你 在 纳入" obviously, as it doesn't get properly this character,
儿 the nar character which is 哪儿 doens't show up (not even in the other
possible character option)..same thing when i try to type HUAR, or
NIAOR or everything that ends up whith this 儿 character (I managed to
type this character in this topic, by copying it from a website that
had it).. Can someone please help me out with this (If I'm not
mistaken, I remember that sometime ago I hadn't this problem...maybe I
change something by mistake..if so, I don't remember what..) thanks in

I'm not sure if I understand the problem correctly, but 儿 is "er" in
Pinyin, so you would have to type: "ni zai naer"
