Hello There,

Please let me first apologizes as I think this is an "easy" question,
but I was unable to solve it or find the answer in any online
resources.

I have a PDF file with Pinyin properly displayed.. I want to cut/copy
it into another application OpenOffice, Text Edit etc and each time I
get this example 'b]a'.

I am sure it has something to do with the UNICODE and the language
preferences but for the life of me I am unable to figure it out. As it
is happening in all applications it is related to the mac os x.. I am
running 10.5.

Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
H

Hi,

This is probably caused by a non-standard approach to the Pinyin in
the PDF file. Back before Unicode, there were a variety of approaches
to displaying Pinyin using fonts limited to English character sets.
See here for more information:

It looks like your PDF may be using the EasyTone fonts:

Thank you,

I was able to get the font from the author ant iwas was the 4-Key
Courier and 4-Key Times New Roman..

It now displays properly but cannot Copy and Paste.

I found a work around using the characters and ZDT.. was able to just
drag them in and it re-spelled the Pinyin for me.

Thanks!
