hello!

the Chinese ITABC pinyin editor in Tiger was pretty much exactly
what i wanted: i could type in sequences in whatever way I want, and
it would always display the same characters in the same order. If I
was going quickly, and knew I wanted 得,i could just hit '3' after
typing in 'de', and didn't even have to look at the popup.

however, for Leopard, it seems to have gone to some sort of MFU
(most frequently used) ordering system instead, which is infuriating,
as it keeps moving the characters around.

somtimes 'ma' brings up:

吗 妈 马。。。

and sometimes it brings up:

骂马妈嘛。。。

etc.

is there any way to get it to stop doing this? apart from that, the
functionality is perfect, but it's aggravating as hell now to type in
chinese as i have to stop after every single character and look, and i
still select the wrong one half the time.

mark.

Have you tried unchecking "Adjust Word Frequency" in Preferences >
Modes > ITABC?

Oh, you are my hero. I've been looking for preferences for the IME
all over the place ... the one place i never thought to look was in
that menu while typing in Chinese ...

I am almost happy with Leopard now ... (minus the candidate window
showing up in weird places in dual-mon situations and UI lockups).

thanks,
mark.
