枝 江 市 情
枝江，因长江至此分枝而得名，现今属湖北省宜昌市。
枝江市位于长江中游北岸、江汉平原西缘，毗邻宜昌，东接武汉，西连重庆，地处千里荆江之首，扼守三峡门户，区位优势得天独厚。是三峡地区唯一的平原县市，是世界级水电旅游名城宜昌的卫星城和重要工业基地，枝江市发展工业的主要优势如下。
一、得天独厚的区位、交通优势
枝江市是中国西部大开发的桥头堡。自古以来，枝江就是鄂西、湘西和川东一带的物资集散地和交通要冲，是"上控巴蜀、下引荆襄"的战略重镇，素以"三峡门户，川鄂咽喉"著称。枝江市在全国的地理位置居中，以枝江为圆心，600公里半径内有西安、重庆、成都、贵阳、南昌、长沙、武汉、合肥、郑州九大省会及直辖市城市，覆盖6亿人口。
枝江交通四通八达，拥有水路、公路、铁路、航空相配套的立体交通网络。
水路运输：枝江市长江港口基础设施完备。市域内95.5公里长江沿线现有8个港口，46个泊位，年货运吞吐能力300多万吨，距枝江50公里的宜昌江海联运港可停靠万吨级货轮。
公路运输：沪蓉高速公路和318国道在枝江市内并行东西，同京珠高速、兰杭高速、襄荆宜高速及207国道相互贯通。
铁路运输：焦柳铁路在枝江市内横贯南北37公里，并在市内设有一个二级货运编组站和两个四级货运站，仓储设备齐全。沿江的宜万铁路正在建设，将于2008年通车。
航空运输：三峡国际机场距市区仅27公里，现已开通27条国内航线和香港、澳门、日本的临时航线。
二、日益显著的水、电、天然气资源优势
枝江市用水用电条件十分优越，境内江河纵横，水库密布，城区内建有日产10万吨的自来水厂一座（现日用水量在3万吨左右），工业用水价格1.00元/吨。全市拥有220千伏及其它变电站15座，距三峡、葛洲坝、隔河岩、高坝洲、水布垭五座国家级大型水电站均在70公里范围内，素有"三峡电力外送走廊"之称，是中部地区水电资源就地转化的重要基地。工业用电价格0.45元/度。国家重点天然气工程忠武线横贯枝江市，并在枝江设有站点分流至湖南和襄樊等地。

枝江市总人口51万人，受教育人数为45.5万人，其中受过高中以上教育的15万人，18-50周岁的人口占总人口近75%，劳动力资源相当丰富。

Brief Introduction of Zhijiang City
Zhijiang got its name because the Yangtze River branches here. It
belongs to Yichang City, Hubei Province now.
Zhijiang city stands on the north bank of the middle reaches of the
Yangtze River, in the west of Jianghan Plain.It adjoins Yichang, meets
Wuhan in the east and links Chongqin in the west. It's at the head of
Jingjiang and guards the gateway of the Three Goreges Area. It has a
good location with exceptional advantages. It is the only one plain
county (city) in the Three Gorges Area. It's the satellite town of
Yichang (a famous tourist city for hydropower on earth) and the
important industrial base. The advantages of developing industry in
Zhijiang are as follows:
A.The Unique Advantages of Traffic Transportation
Zhijiang is the bridgehead of the development of the western site of
China. Since ancient times, Zhijiang has been the goods and materials
distributing center and the communications center in the area of
Western Hubei, Western Hunan and Eastern Sichuan.It's the
strategically important town of "controlling Bashu upward, drawing
Jingxiang next" while it's celebrated as "the door of the Three
Gorges area and the key junction of Hubei and Sichuan". Zhijiang is
in the middle of the whole country. Taking Zhijiang as the center of a
circle, within 600 kms, you can reach 9 provincial capitals,such as
Xi'an, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guiyang, Nanchang, Changsha, Wuhan, Hefei,
Zhengzhou and some prefectural-level cities, covering a population of 6
billion.
Zhijiang has convenient communications in all directions. And it
possesses the three-dimensional network of communication lines that
waterway, highway, railway and aviation are well matched
Waterway transportation: The infrastructure of ports along the Yangtze
River is complete. There are 8 ports and 46 berths along the 95.5 kms
line of the Yangtze River in the city. The handling capacity of annual
freight transportation is more than 3 million tons. The 10,000
ton-class cargo ships can stop at Jianghai transport harbour in Yichang
which is 50 kms away from Zhijiang.
Highway transportation: Shanghai-Chengdu freeway runs in parallel lines
with No.318 national road across Zhijiang, joined up with
Beijing-Zhuhai freeway, Lanzhou-Hangzhou freeway,
Xiangfan-Jingzhou-Yichang freeway and No.207 national road.
Railway transportation: Jiaoliu railway traverses 37 kms from north and
south in Zhijiang with one second class freight transportation
marshalling yard and two fourth class freight transport station in the
city. The storage facilities are self-contained. Yichang-Wanzhou
railway along the Yangtze River which is still under construction will
be open to the traffic in 2008.
Air transportation: Sanxia International Airport is only 27 kms away
from the urban area.It has opened 27 domestic air lines and three
temporary lines of Hong Kong, Macao and Japan.
B. Remarkable Water, Electricity and Gas Resources
Zhijiang has good condition for water and electricity. The Yangtze
River comes across the city from west to east. There are a lot of lakes
in Zhijiang. There is a waterworks of producing 100,000 tons of water
daily in Zhijiang urban area (daily water yield about 30,000 tons
now).The price of water for industrial use is about 0.12 dollars per
ton. It possesses 15 substations in the whole city. The five
state-level large-scale hydropower stations, such as the Three Gorges
Dam, GeZhou Dam, Geheyan Dam, GaoBazhou Dam and ShuiBuya Dam ,are less
than 70 kms away from it. It's usually called "the corridor of
output electric power in the Three Gorges Area". It's the important
base that the power resources change on the spot. The price of
electricity for industrial use is about 5.44 cents per kilowatt-hour.
The state major natural gas plumbing project Zhongwu line traverses
Zhijiang City.
C. Cheap and Abundant Human Resources
The total population of Zhijiang is 510,000. About 455,000 people have
been educated. Among them, about 150,000 people passed education above
senior middle school. The people at the age of 18-50 accounts for
nearly 75% of the total population. The workforce resources are quite
abundant. The average monthly salary of the local workforce is about
48-73 dollars.
D.Distinctive Soft Environmental Advantages of Investment
In order to offer superior development environment to the business
guests, Zhijiang founds the institutions of service of "one group and
three centers" creatively to promote the economic development. The
group is the Lead Group of Optimizing the Eeconomic Development
Environment. There are three centers under its leadship.They are the
Service Center of the Economic Development, the Supervision Center of
Protecting the Investors' Lawful Rights and the Law Service Mediation
Center of Protecting the Investment Environment. The group and the
