Below is the job description:

 

Job Title:                    GIS Analyst

Department:             Administrative

Reports To:               Marketing Manager

FLSA Status:             Non-Exempt

 

 

Summary:  Produces a variety of high quality geographical and demographic materials for marketing and market analysis purposes.  Is proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts, practices and procedures.  Support commercial real estate brokerage transactions with geographical information (maps, aerials and demographic reports) in a customer service environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Utilizes GIS techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location.

 

  1. Provides digital, online and print maps to supplement analysis, and for marketing purposes.

 

  1. Obtains accurate market data (e.g., existing and proposed locations for office buildings, malls, shopping centers, retailers, parcel data, property ownership, traffic counts, demographics, zoning/planning information) and manages GIS database.

 

  1. Educates co-workers about GIS information and its uses.  Assists brokers on best GIS/research practices in industry & organize all projects into an efficient, time managed process to meet deadlines in a high volume, fast paced environment.

 

  1. Assists in market tour book creation as needed.

 

  1. Uses good judgment in proactively identifying issues and recommending solutions in a productive and professional manner.

 

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.  Must be able to formulate and clearly communicate ideas to others, including those who have only a basic knowledge of GIS.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Must have a working knowledge of current versions of ESRI’s ArcGIS software, GIS-related technologies, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications required.  Knowledge of GIS terms and definitions required.  Knowledge of HTML, java script, Python, and cartography desired.  Solid working knowledge of image editing applications, (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and online mapping applications (e.g., Google Earth, Bing Maps, etc.) a plus.  Bachelors degree with a major or minor in Geography or related field; or Associates Degree or equivalent; with a certificate or concentration in GIS technology; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
