Dear friends,


Hope you had a wonderful holiday and stayed warm during the storm. New semester is approaching, and our CPLI will arrange events for the coming semester. I am looking forward to your suggestions and ideas!


Last semester, we organized several site visits and seminars and built partnerships with local nonprofits. During this winter break, Ming Hu, Fengxiu Zhang and Zhang Ning worked with Dr. Dong Qiang, the chief editor of Philanthropy e-Journal for a research project about the collaboration of nonprofits in the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake. 


In the coming semester, we plan to have the following exciting events:

  • 1.      Government & Nonprofits panel discussion on Jan. 23
  • 2.      Spring festival celebration: we may organize a dumpling party and a fundraising event in early February
  • 3.      Tzu Chi volunteer James Fung will come to IUPUI campus and give us a lecture about the mission, tenets, and challenges of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation
  • 4.      Succession: CPLI will elect the new president and executive team in late March
  • 5.      Receive an honor from the Indiana State Senate

In addition, we will partner with Play 360 and Dr. Weibin Zeng, the chairman and founder of China Heritage Foundation to work for their charitable projects in China.


As before, I call for more events. If you want to bring in guest speakers, initiative a site visit or have ideas about the events you want to see, please let me know!
