The Fordham Intellectual Property Law Institute will host a conference, April 11th, on China’s New Environment for Intellectual Property Law. The Conference, directed by Prof. Mark Cohen, will feature several panels focused specifically on creativity, innovation, and design protection. World-class authorities from the U.S. and China will address issues such as:

·         “Shanzai” copycat culture and the drive for innovation: what China is doing to move from “Made in China” to “Designed in China”

·         A current assessment of China’s patent/innovation environment

·         Government support of innovation in China

·         Assessing the accomplishments of the IP regime in China’s quest to innovate

·         Latest developments in Chinese legislation to promote innovation and creativity

The Conference is ideal for anyone interested in the role of innovation in China’s fast-changing IP environment, and will serve as another step in the continuing discussions and evaluation of China’s progress towards becoming an innovative society, particularly in the IT sector.

Speakers from the U.S. and Chinese governments, as well as high court officials and top IP practitioners will share their perspectives on the challenges ahead. Come hear David Kappos, Director, USPTO; IP experts from SIPO; the Chief Judge of China’s IPR tribunal, Judge Kong Xiangjun (TBC), as well as Chief Judge Randall Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Hon. Denny Chin, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.   We will also have Pete Suttemeir, Denis Simon, and other experts on IP and innovation speaking or moderating.

You can register for the Conference at www.fordhamipconference.com/china. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
