Dear Members,
Greetings! We trust that you and your families have remained well. It seems like everything else has been on hold with the need to focus attention on safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s been so easy to get discouraged. As we take the necessary precautions let us remember not to lose sight of the cause to which we committed ourselves. Let’s continue communicating and looking out for each other. Let’s use this and other platforms to share ideas about what we can do during this crisis. Maybe we just need to adapt to this new change!
We will continue sharing funding opportunities and writing proposals which hopefully can make CHIN better than it has ever been. So as the network is facing this “in the valley” crisis what is our individual contribution or input as members to improve the situation? A wise man once told me that “it’s not all about what you take out but also what you bring in” therefore allow me to ask this question which is begging to be asked: what are you bringing to CHIN?
CHIN will soon be conducting a membership count to establish the actual membership list. This is with the view of reorganizing itself for efficiency and vitality. We want to put in place plans which will help the network to develop and be relevant to our time again. The membership must represent the values and the vision of the network contributing vividly to improving the welfare of children in Zambia. We want to know for sure which organizations are still functioning and what type of work they are doing, also for us to update our database. We plan to introduce capacity building programmes for members and I believe this exercise will serve as a needs assessment tool for the membership.
We will start by looking at the current list of paid-up members. Those who have paid up according to CHIN constitution are automatically CHIN members and they are empowered to contribute to decision making in the network. All the programmes we are designing now will only include paid up members. So if you are not paid up yet ensure to do so otherwise you will be left behind. You can get in touch with your regional chairperson or secretariat to make a payment or to check if the name of your organization is on the list of paid-up members. Those who have not paid membership for over four years will be required to reapply for membership.
The COVID – 19 has taught us many lesions - one of them being - not to take what we have for granted, who knew that the year 2020 would turn out this way, some of us had such great plans but alas. “A bird in the hand is better than 10 in the bush,” the elders say. let’s love and cherish CHIN, tomorrow is Gods business.
Talk to us and let us know how you feel about CHIN and how we can improve it, I will be so excited to hear from you. Drop us a line! CHIN has a what’s up group for all the members, if you are not yet there please text me on my what’s up line 0955542574 and I will gladly include you. DON’T BE LEFT BEHIND!!!!!
Waiting to hear from you.
