Dear CHIN Members
As you are aware we have a big event on mental health coming up. (17 to 30th October, 2021 Mental Health is an emerging feature in child protection and it is affecting all of us.
I have attached a concept note to give you more information on the subject matter. We as CHIN need to rise to the occasion and make our voices louder on this issue. If you believe in advocacy, this is the time to put your skills to good use. This campaign is not just one of those secretariat activities; it’s time for all of us as rights holders to make a demand.
I am hoping CHIN members will take a lead and own this campaign even as we bring on board other stakeholders to support us. We have 14 days to do what we have never done in the history of CHIN. We will do community discussions, school outreach, collecting voices of children and parents, radio and TV interviews, children’s participation programs, counseling programs and on the 30th we will have the main event which hopefully will be officiated by the Vice President. The main event will be characterized by a march past, exhibitions, awareness-raising and counseling sessions.
Since advocacy is about numbers we have decided to also bring on board any individuals who are interested in being part of the campaign. We will be doing this through social media and other media opportunities.
After this campaign, we will document and use the learning to do concept notes for bigger projects next year. The Ministry of Community Development has also offered to provide mental health training to the organizations taking part in the campaign.
We are doing this campaign in Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces for now and we hope all CHIN members will show themselves during these 14 days.
Do not let other people take your seat, ensure you play your role.
Your support on this matter will go a long way.
Warm regards
