Anyone have a conversion for Chimera from True20? I've started one,
but if I don't have to reinvent the wheel...

Hi October,

First off, welcome to the group. I got the link to your blog and am
really excited to see your all-Chimera campaign. I'm glad you like the
system. Questions and suggestions are always welcome.

In answer to your question, I'm not aware of any True20 conversion.
That said, I'm working on a "port" of Chimera for Swords & Wizardry.
I'm not familiar with True20, but if it's somewhere near-compatible
with S&W, I might be able to help.

Cheers,
-Erin

Hi, Erin. Thanks for the welcome!

I'm not familiar with Swords & Wizardry. True20 is Green Ronin's
answer to WotC's D20 system, using only 20-sided dice. Versions of
True20 are used in Mutants & Masterminds and Blue Rose. It runs a lot
like 3e, with attributes (STR, DEX, etc.), skills, and feats. Powers
(spells/psionics) are treated like feats. There are no classes, but 3
"roles" (Adept, Warrior, Expert) that can be manipulated through
skills and feats to take the form of any class.

The skills are easy enough to convert, and I've already done that.
But it's a feat-heavy system and there are a LOT of feats. *If* they
convert, I'm guessing they're most appropriately converted to Perks or
Sperks.

And then there are the critters. There's a whole book of critters I
want to convert. Thankfully, Chimera is easy to wrap my head around.
Though it will be a lot of work, it shouldn't be difficult work.

First, what is the point of converting a generic system to another
generic system?

It makes much more sense to convert True20 setting materials. That
way, there is more focus on what needs converting. For example, if
you were to convert the Freeport setting, you would just try to build
classes and races using Chimera that reflect how they are portrayed in
the setting. The specific feats important to that setting than can be
assessed to whether they need to be rebuilt as Perks or SPerks.

Primarily so I can convert characters (PCs and NPCs) that are already created in True20 (specifically, the roles in Agents of Oblivion) and creatures from the bestiary.  I'm not converting combat or system mechanics or anything like that.

You started by saying "First". Did you have a second question?
