Whilea consultation is not required to start training, we highly recommend setting up a free Consultation and Demonstration with one of our staff before you invest in a training program. We want to meet with you and your dog, discuss in detail what your training goals are, and help you find a program will meet your training needs and fit your budget. We also want to give you the opportunity to meet our staff, tour our facility and see our training before you commit to training with us.
One of our most popular programs is our Transformation Academy. When your dog is enrolled into one of our Board and Trains Programs, we do the hard work for you. We offer a Week Day Boarding Program Monday-Friday for two weeks and also a Full 15 Day Boarding Program.
Our trainers work with your dog teaching them to respond to our unique Attention Based Training System where we pair technology with rewards as a signal to your dog to look for commands. Your dog will receive one on one training with our team of instructors as they work on foundational commands and obedience through real world distractions. The goal of our training programs are to help produce, happy, confident AND obedient dogs. After your dog completes their Transformation Academy course, we start your training with our Leadership Transfer Lessons. At the end of your Leadership Transfer Lessons, your dog is also given a membership to Group Class to practice what you and your dog have learned.
One of the biggest benefits to enrolling in our Transformation Academy, is that we are able to do much of the harder work for you. Training at any level requires repetition and practice to lay a solid foundation. Our boarding programs allow us to time to lay that foundation of training prior to our training you and your family. Once your dog has completed training, we meet with you and your dog several times over the following weeks to assure a smooth Leadership Transfer back to your home.
Our staff are constantly training and reinforcing behavior the entire time your dog is with us. They can benefit greatly from working around other dogs and with multiple trainers. Most dogs are allowed in playgroups with other dogs in between training sessions so they are good and tired by the end of the day.
All of our Transformation Academy Programs include your dogs boarding and training, private lessons, training equipment and 6mos or 1yr membership to our weekly group classes. All Inclusive Transformation Academy Programs start at $2,500.
Each week your dog joins us for a day or two to give them a head start on the skills they need to be successful at home. At the end of the day, we work with you to show you how to master the skills they learned during the day and continue to make progress at home. As your dog progresses through the program, they will learn not only basic commands but how to focus and respond around all kinds of distractions. This program also comes with a group class membership.
Imagine having a dog that is a joy to be around. One that responds to your every command, regardless of distractions or situations. A dog that garners compliments every where you go. Each of our personally tailored programs will help your dog develop calmness, confidence, great house manners and reliability in all their obedience commands. These programs are best suited for dogs with good temperaments and are non-reactive.

Our puppy trainers make this FUN and educational for puppies and their owners!

Having anxiety problems with your dog? Come join us for a 1.5-hour Non-Dog Seminar where we will be presenting a unique perspective on anxiety in dogs. Discover how to build confidence in your dog in a way that you have never heard before. There will be an opportunity for Q&A as well! Topics Covered: Building Confidence, Separation Anxiety, Insecurity, Dog/People Reactivity, Stages of Anxiety, Food/Toy Aggression, House Breaking and more!
Each of our dog training programs is custom-tailored to the specific situation. There are a number of factors that we evaluate prior to building a training package for you, such as your dog's age, temperament, previous training, as well as the desired goals of the dog's parents. What will work for one dog and owner won't necessarily fit well with another. Because of these factors, we offer a free demonstration & consultation as an opportunity to meet with your family as well as your dog to gain insight into the unique circumstances that affect your dog training. During the demonstration, we will evaluate the factors and develop a training plan for your dog and family. From the training plan, we will be able to give you an accurate idea of the cost to accomplish your goals. There is no cost or obligation associated with the free demonstration.
With this mission in-mind, we customize our training sessions to meet with our customer's personality as well as what will result in the best possible training experience for both dog and owner. As you view our portfolio of dog training videos, we hope that you will pay close attention to the attitude of all the dogs trained by Sit Means Sit. We pride ourselves on being able to maintain a happy and relaxed attitude in our dogs.
When looking at dog training from this standpoint, it easy to see how reinforcement of rules will be inevitable at some point. Every dog is different though, and some dogs require more or less reinforcement than others.
During phase one, the goal is to achieve control over your dog, teach them the rules, boundaries and desired behaviors you want. It also the time to teach the dog to pay attention and perform these commands around distractions. This phase lasts between 6-12 weeks on average, however in certain situations it may take longer to gain the reliability needed before moving on to phase two. Once your dog is capable of performing commands quickly and reliably around a variety of distractions with minimal problem solving required, then your dog and you are ready to move on to phase two.
The third and final phase of training a dog is the maintenance phase. During this phase, you will likely be using your dog training collar or other dog training aid very little as your dog is capable of ignoring distraction. The catch however is that they are still capable of distraction (they are not robots). A smart trainer recognizes this and is ready to maintain their rules, commands and boundaries at anytime. It is not uncommon to have a dog who sense the lack of maintenance and begins to revert back in their behavior. The benefit of having done your dog training properly to begin with is that regression is easily minimized and dealt with by simply jumping back into training for a short time to remind the dog of the expectations.
