TheFIA European Truck Racing Championship is a motorsport truck road racing series for semi-tractors which is sanctioned to the Fdration Internationale de l'Automobile and is organised by ETRA Promotion GmbH.[1]
From 2017, the series began running the Goodyear Truck Cup within the regular drivers' championship. The competition is reserved for drivers given a "Chrome" rating by the sanctioning body; drivers are considered "Chrome" unless their past performance merits the rank of "Titan".1
1 Titan rank is awarded to drivers who have either A) won the ETRC championship within the previous 10 years, B) finished in the top 10 in the championship standings the previous season, C) has finished 6th or better in any super pole session in the previous season, D) is ranked gold or platinum in the FIA's driver ranking system or E) is judged to have had outstanding performance even if none of the previous conditions were met.[2]
In the halcyon days of the PlayStation 2, there was a constant stream of weird and wonderful racing games for me to spend my part-time market research cash on at my local Computer Exchange. When I got bored of playing the latest instalment of the Colin Mcrae Rally or Gran Turismo franchises, there were stacks of other less well-known games to peruse while the latest Rammstein record was played on repeat and the queue of sixteen-year-olds trying to buy GTA III lined up on to the street.
They are heavy too, with massive tyres. To prevent the trucks from tearing up circuits, penalty bollards are placed around the lap, generally at a corner apex or on an exit curb. Hit three of these in a race and you are landed with a whopping 30-second penalty.
By far the most unique thing about truck racing, however, is the brakes. As any good racing driver will tell you, braking is where a lot of time can be made up or lost. Modulating the brakes and applying them at just the right time is what separates the champions from the backmarkers. As you can imagine, slowing down 5.3 tonnes of mass is no mean feat. Not only are braking distances in truck racing lengthy, preventing the brakes from overheating requires a managed cooling system.

Giti Tire took its competition racing tires to some of the toughest tracks in Europe in 2018, showcasing two branded trucks in partnership with Team Oliver Racing. With the April-November BTRA (British Truck Racing Association) season beginning and ending at the famous Brands Hatch Circuit in the UK, the team also took on numerous other locations in Europe throughout the summer and fall, including the famous Nrburgring in Germany and Zolder in Belgium.
Stuart and Martin Oliver represented Giti in their strikingly-branded #7 and #11 competition trucks. Following the final race on November 3rd, Stuart and his team discussed the overall performance throughout the season and all members were very happy with the experience. This including an outstanding record of securing 16 visits to the podium during the racing season between the two drivers.
Have spent the last few years looking for the European truck racers. I think Italeri and Revell of Germany made a couple a long time ago. Not even sure if they're any good but thought it would be fun to build a unique racer to add to my collection.
Tamiya makes some Man trucks, but they aint cheap. Link bellow. I'd just get a standard truck and build up or buy racing parts to build on. You could build US trucks and turn them into GATR race trucks a lot easier and cheaper if you want to go that route too. Hal Needam from Smokey and the Bandit films and such was involved with starting up GATR. Only reason it never took off was because Goodyear refused to make racing tires for the heavy trucks. They would over heat the RF tires and they would explode violently and send the trucks into the wall.
I saw the 2 trucks at Scalemates but not sure how or what the purchase procedure is. Kind of vague. It's just strange that we're able to find older kits sometimes but these race trucks seem to have vanished.
The biggest, most imposing racing series in the world, the FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) is a truly unique motor sport spectacle and the pinnacle of global truck racing with the most professional teams and drivers competing in a pan-European series.
Starting at Misano, Italy on May 26, the series will yet again see the thrills of 1,500 horsepower, 5.5 tonne trucks racing at speeds of up to 160 km/h with acceleration similar to a high performance sports car.
All entrants will be exclusively racing on specially developed Goodyear Truck Racing Tyres. The extended exclusive relationship with the FIA and the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) gives Goodyear the stage to demonstrate its innovative technological capabilities in truck tyres and test new technologies for truck tyres under challenging and competitive conditions.
Goodyear Truck Racing tyres are built in size 315/70R22.5 using a similar carcass to standard Goodyear truck tyres. The carcass is modified and includes cool running specifications and provides increased lateral rigidity, to perform in the most demanding racing conditions.
Goodyear Truck Racing tyres also have a specifically designed tread providing very high levels of grip in both dry and wet conditions. In combination with a characteristic asymmetric shoulder design and circumferential grooves, the tread compound offers all-round performance consistently to all drivers and on all tracks.
A further feature of Goodyear Truck Racing tyres is RFID (Radio Frequency Identity), which gives each tyre a unique identity allowing the FIA to monitor each tyre to ensure all teams keep to the regulations regarding the number and usage of race tyres.

Hello and welcome to my achievement guide and roadmap for FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The game was developed by N-Racing who are a new developer on Xbox/PS. The game was published by Big Ben who have other racing games under their name including WRC, Isle of Man and V-Rally.
This game is relatively basic and you will earn all achievements within the career mode. As you start, you will be required to complete licenses before it allows you to race within the ETRC and World Series.
These licenses can be loosely compared to that of Gran Turismo/Test Drive and just require you to get a bronze medal in all sections. Sections include turning/braking/speed and you cannot crash, go off the track or cut corners. They are not too bad and they are not long expect the last license which requires a full clean lap of Zolder. Once complete you will unlock;-
For the first race, you should aim to get 7 achievements out of the way for qualifying, winning, not taking damage etc. The handling of the truck may take a little bit of time to get used too but you will have some experience from the Licenses. Make sure you set the difficulty to lowest and turn damage off. This does not affect achievements or credits/rep.
Continue into the next season which will see you having the ability of signing full season contracts with a team. Do so and pick one which offers a high amount of rep and keep winning. At some stage you will unlock;-
This was previously broken so that you never got credits or rep for finishing first. This has been patched but it can be still quite glitchy. If you are lucky you should have 10000 credits after 5 races. Once you have 10000 credits, go ahead and purchase all the upgrades for your truck for;-

@aznable I suspect that's why this port is so shoddy. I see people wonder why games like this don't come out better. But from the studio's perspective, there's a small niche of gamers that will reliably buy truck racing regardless of quality, but there's very little market beyond that small core group (of cousins).
@BacklogBlues Grid Autosport should save the day when it finally arrives. That's a last gen racer that reviewed well and is being ported by an experienced developer. Surely it will arrive in a good state and instantly become the Switch's best racer. In the meantime I'll keep playing the superb Virtua Racing.
@MarioFan02 Some of the great racing games I want ported to Switch are exclusives: Gran Tourismo, Forza, Wipeout, etc. But some aren't: Ridge Racer, Project Cars, Blur, Burnout 3, Outrun 2006, Motor Toon Grand Prix 2 (1 in the U.S.), Sega Rally 1 and 2, Daytona 1 and 2, etc. Since Cuphead made it to Switch maybe we have a chance with Forza? I would be very excited about it, especially since Microsoft has a good record with Forza and Halo sacrificing whatever is necessary to hit 60fps on Xbox One. Could they pull off a similar feat with the Switch? I'd love to play it if they could!
@farmer_humpf Honestly I wouldn't be hyping that game up too much. It's an old PS3 game for me these days and while it would be nice to have a decent racing game like that it's hard to get too excited about it.
I also would like to reiterate my comment from the original article: if you want a good experience of driving a truck between cities, through the countryside, listening to talkback radio or country music, stopping at roadside bars, wearing plaid shirts... GTA San Andreas does a pretty good job.
