Mid-Hudson Misfits Raise $800 for Ulster County SPCA

Inaugural Fundraiser Hosted by the Brand New League Attracts Over 200 Guests 

On Friday, September 7th, 2012, the Mid-Hudson Misfits, Hudson Valley’s brand spankin’ new roller derby league, hosted their first fundraiser to support their furry friends at the Ulster County SPCA.  Attracting well over 200 guests, the event was seen as a tremendous success for the fresh new league.

The event was a action packed, with an exhibition Hudson Valley BRAWL match, a groovin dancefloor courtesy of DJs Ali & Daikon, Henna Tattoos from Tipsy Turtle and a killer raffle featuring prizes from La Bella Pasta, Isabella Schwartz LMT, Pegasus Shoes, Yum Yum Noodle Bar, SatelliteEDM.com, Woofstock and the Stockade Tavern.  

In keeping with the Mid-Hudson Misfits mission, this is one of many community outreach efforts the Hudson Valley can expect from this brand-new team.  The Mid-Hudson Misfits league is a non-profit organization dedicated not only to create an inclusive team for women to get together and play the sport of roller derby, but also to give back to the community by working closely with local not-for-profit and charitable organizations.

The Ulster County SPCA was a great place to start their charitable outreach.  Many of the derby girls have adopted pets from the shelter, and the UCSPCA is in desperate need of things for the animals.  If people are interested in making a donation to the Ulster County SPCA, they are in dire need of the following:

• Linens- sheets, towels and blankets
• Dry & Wet dog and puppy food
• Dry & wet cat and kitten food
• Liquid bleach
• Kong toys
• Peanut butter- no added sugar
• "Kuranda" beds
• 4' slip leads for walking dogs
