I've got a soft spot in my heart for cover songs, the more obscure
the performer the better (in fact there's a page here at Heavy
Harmonies devoted to covers). So this week, I'm showcasing a couple
of covers that you may or may not have run into before:

1. Lock up Your Daughters (5 MB). This Slade classic, as covered by
the group Lion, on their 1989 album Trouble in Angel City.

2. Gimme Shelter (6 MB). This version, recorded by the CCM group Holy
Soldier on their 1992 album Last Train, is probably one of the best
executed covers I've heard.

3. Barracuda (6 MB). Cross-gender covers don't always work well. This
one does. This monster hit for Heart is done admirable justice by
the little-known hard rock band Gemini, on their 1992 album Out
for Blood.
